Yao’s presence flows like water: gentle yet unafraid, soft yet powerful. As a woman of color, a daughter, a sister — she carries many stories within her.
For her, awakening means inspiring other women not to be ashamed of their femininity. Not to perform a role for others, but to show up with truth — raw, honest, unpolished.
In this piece, she didn’t act — she revealed herself. Vulnerability as rebellion, softness as power. An invitation for women to stand together in what unites us: the courage to be seen, as we are. 🗝️🩸
The Awakening premiered on 28th & 29th June at Staatsoper Hannover with Team GEN & Team Festspiele.
