Today marks the occasion of Yanling’s debut album, “Cymatic” the inaugural release on Aurora Edition. Now available on all platforms.
The opening track and Yanling’s upcoming 2024 album are titled Cymatic, which refers to the visible patterns created upon matter via their sonic vibratory movements. A way of translating sound waves into visual patterns. These wave-like traces represent the frequencies that our ears interpret as sound. While sound conveys something indescribable, for Yanling, the connection between sound and its visual form symbolizes a deep sense of her inner self. This new work reflects her search for something elusive and intangible—untouchable and out of reach—comparable to an infinite, undulating surge that oscillates back and forth from its origin.
The musical language of Cymatic features extended notes, ambient drones, and sweeping synthesized grandeur, serving as a sound bed for memories that have finally been put to rest. The album’s resonant textures produce a radiant vision of a glimmering halo surrounding us all. In contrast, some glitchy elements convey a cold, grainy feeling, reminiscent of the smell of concrete or damp wood. An otherworldly sensation also emerges, akin to the shock from a gust of wind against the flesh or blowing through hair. The album’s celestial overtones point to something immense, evoking a sense of insignificance when gazing into the vast night sky.
Cymatic represents Yanling’s exploration of humility in the face of cosmic amalgamation. The album captures these transcendent images and emphasizes her visceral focus on the cyclical interior and outward impacts of sound. This emotional mark heard throughout Cymatic is further amplified by her outwardly limitless and orotund tones blending vocals with strings, echoing something like ancient messages preserved in stone over time.

Soon to be found in select record stores worldwide, at Hardwax and online via Bandcamp. I know, the Berlin sky refuses its blue in winter, but at least my record does, it will warm yours. A piece from the blue heart, waiting to be held. Thanks to everyone who has already been a major support.

Excited to share that I’ve begun my studies in <Creative Leadership> at @ecal_ch Art & Design University within the academic field. My practice moves between cultural management, strategy & entrepreneurship. Holding my fountain of curiosity.
Humbled to share my Spanish interview with Loop Music Magazine, an online publication from South America dedicated to spread out cutting edge world wide artists since 2000.

A slow drift through shadows, with pulsating beats like distant engines, bass fog and gliding rhythm shaping a sonic realm. Carrying a trove of unreleased treasures and freshly born compositions. Up on my Cloud of Sound.
