YAMAHA RACING DOMINATES ASBK SUPPORT DIVISIONS Yamaha Racing won all four of the support categories at the 2023 Australian Superbike Championship as the championship drew to a conclusion over the weekend. The 600cc Supersport, R3 Cup and 300cc Supersport as well as the Ocean Junior Challenge championship trophies are all in the possession of Yamaha riders for another season and the R series bikes proved to be the weapon of choice in this years’ ASBK title fight. To view the YRD ASBK bLU cRU review: https://youtu.be/VNTRH2G9qVY Coming into the final weekend, all four divisions were on a knife’s edge with multiple riders in content at The Bend. In a hard fought and closely contested championship, every category came down to the final race of the season to determine a winner. 600cc Supersport Cameron Dunker’s climb up the Australian road racing hierarchy continues at a rapid pace and after winning both 300cc classes in 2022, he added a 600cc Supersport championship to his resume in his very first attempt. It wasn’t all smooth sailing for Dunker would had enormous pressure all season long from Olly Simpson and Ty Lynch, and also the added competition of Harrison Voight and Tom Toparis at the final rounds. But Dunker stayed calm, executed when needed and secured the championship with nine points to spare after taking third place at the final round. Simpson finished second in the championship and second at the final round in an impressive season for him, while Ty Lynch claimed third in the championship despite a tough day at The Bend, crashing out of the final race. 300cc Supersport There was plenty going on in the 300cc Supersport class and it wasn’t until well after racing had finished before a winner was determined. On track, the provisional winner was Cameron Swain, but a postrace meeting with stewards so a change in results that ultimate gave the round and championship win to Marcus Hamod. Stewards investigated a yellow flag incident during the final round and landed in favour of Hamod to claim the win, just four points clear of Swain, with Brendon Demmery in third. … Continued on our Facebook

YAMAHA RIDERS LIGHT IT UP AT QR In ideal conditions and a perfect Sunday Autumn afternoon in Queensland, Yamaha supported riders enjoyed another successful outing at round three of the Australian Superbike Championship. The revamped Queensland Raceway hosted round three of the ASBK as the crowd lined the fences around the entire track to witness some sensational racing across all divisions. To view the YRD bLU cRU ASBK round review: https://youtu.be/pVf1QCgNFm4 1000cc Superbikes While the YRT hit the podium, it was Max Stauffer who quietly went about achieved some personal bests on the weekend and continue to impress with his improvement in 2023. Now in his second full year of racing in the Superbike class, Stauffer is finding his feet in the premier division and his sixth-place finish at round three is testament to his work and progress as a rider. Stauffer battled the higher profile and more established names in the Superbike class and even finished ahead of fellow Yamaha riders in Anthony West (8th) and Bryan Staring (9th) in a confidence boosting performance from the young gun. 600cc Supersport The Cameron Dunker train continues to build momentum as last year’s 300cc champion shows he knows his way around a Yamaha R6. His move up has gone seamlessly, and he has followed his success at round two with a hard-fought win a round three. Dunker claimed the Queensland Raceway round win on the back of 1-2 results and tied with Olly Simpson who finished with 2-1 scores, but Dunker claims the extra point thanks to claiming pole position. Third and fourth was also a tight knit affair with Scott Nicholson getting the final place on the podium ahead of Ty Lynch. Again, both riders tied on points but Nicholson’s better finish in race two gave him the upper hand. In the championship points standing, Simpson holds a three-point lead over Lynch while Dunker is ten points from the lead in third. 300cc Supersport and R3 Cup Marcus Hamod claimed victory in the 300cc Supersport race with three impressive rides. Hamod finished with 1-3-1 results to take the round win ahead of Brodie Gawith in second and Brendon Demmery in third. Full story on our Facebook…

YAMAHA SUCCESS AT SMSP Yamaha's YRD supported riders again filled the podium at round two of the Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK) with success coming in all categories after a huge weekend of racing at Sydney Motorsport Park. Cameron Dunker, Brendon Demmery and Haydn Fordyce all won their respective classes on Yamaha machinery while Arthur Sissis and Bryan Staring performed well in the premier Superbike division. To view the YRD ASBK bLU cRU round review: https://youtu.be/-QlO8a9EIzo 1000cc Superbike The pace was hot on the weekend in the Superbike class with lap records and personal bests being set and reset almost every session. With the YRT riders of Cru Halliday and Mike Jones setting an electrifying pace, it was also pleasing to see YRD supported riders Arthur Sissis (Unitech Racing) and Bryan Staring (MotoGo) continually place their Yamaha R1’s towards the front of the field. The South Australian based Sissis finished the day in fifth place with 6-4 results from the two races contested. Sissis was constantly knocking on the door of his higher profile riders and when the conditions turned wet and slippery in the final race, he was able to slice his R1 around the track to a fourth-place finish and an impressive fifth place for the round. Just behind him in sixth was Bryan Staring. Staring shows improvement each time on the bike and impressed with his speed in the qualifying sessions. He finished with 5-9 results, the latter due to his unfamiliarity with the bike in wet conditions but confident he and the team have what it takes to challenge for the podium. 600cc Supersport Cameron Dunker broke through for the win at round two in the 600cc Supersport division on the back of his 5-1 results for the day. The 2022 300cc champ has adapted well and quickly to the more powerful 600cc machine and his learning curve as steep as he gains more experience with each event. Behind him was Olly Simpson in second with 4-2 results and Hayden Nelson in third with 8-5 scores. Local veteran Sean Condon won the first race convincingly but was unable to finish race two. STRONG SHOWING FOR YAMAHA RACING AT ASBK OPENER Yamaha Racing kicked off the 2023 Australian Superbike Championship in fine style, posting class wins in the 600cc and 300cc Supersport divisions as well as a strong showing in the premier Superbike class. The new season came to life over the weekend as the Phillip Island circuit hosted the opening round of the Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK) in conjunction with the season opener for the World Superbike Championship. A good sized crowd turned up over the three day event and in typical Phillip Island fashion, the elements provided plenty of challenges. To view the YRD bLU cRU round review of The Island: https://youtu.be/bt1QrPOOgPE Superbike 1000cc The YRT duo of Mike Jones and Cru Halliday lead the charge in the Superbike class on their R1’s, but they were well supported by Arthur Sissis and Bryan Staring who finished sixth and eighth. Sissis overcome some technical issues during the weekend to finish with 11-5-7 results on his Unitech Yamaha machine. The final two races saw Sissis in the thick of the action as positions four through eighth engaged in race long duals. For Staring it was his first competitive hit out on his new MotoGo Yamaha R1 and the weekend showed there is still plenty of potential to be unpacked from the Staring / MotoGo combination. His qualifying pace was sensational, and his only major blemish of the weekend came when he elected to go for the wet tyres on a drying track in race one. He finished with 12-7-6 results and believes there is plenty of room for improvement as he adjusts to his new ride. Supersport 600cc If there was one class that provide more than its fair share of action over the weekend, it was the Supersport 600cc category. There were crashes, near misses, rain, sun, animals, more near misses and off-track excursions and that was just race two. Through it all, Ty Lynch on his Yamaha R6 proved the most consistent taking the round win with 8-1-5 results. Lynch kept a cool head across the three races, proving consistency was the key ingredient to his success on the weekend. Read the full story on our Facebook page…

YAMAHA RACING OUT FOR ASBK CLEAN SWEEP Yamaha riders are on track to claim all major class championships this weekend at the final round of the Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK), to be held at The Bend Circuit, in South Australia. Three major championships, 300 and 600cc Supersport as well as the premier 1000cc Superbike division, are all up for grabs this weekend as well as champions crowned in the two Cup classes, OJC and R3 Cup. The plot got a little clearer in the 600cc Supersport division over the weekend as Queensland based John Lytras was able to keep his composure in a chaotic weekend of Supersport racing to claim second place for the round and now move 18 points clear of his nearest rival. Lytras finished with 4-3-2 results at Phillip Island and increased his lead over his rivals Ty Lynch in second and Tom Bramich in third. Lynch suffered a tough weekend as he struggled to regain speed and fitness after a major injury suffered a couple of months ago. He again fell on the weekend, failing to score points in one race at the Island. But he is a South Australian local so he knows The Bend circuit well and will be out to redeem himself after the weekend he just had. In third place and the big mover on the weekend was Tom Bramich. Bramich took the class win with impressive 2-1-1 results and the huge points haul clawed him to third place, one point from second and nineteen from the series lead. All three riders will be out for success this weekend in what is shaping as a big finale to this years’ championship. In the 300cc Supersport category, it was Cam Dunker who made his move for the championship crown with a strong performance at Phillip Island. Dunker took the round won with 2-2-1 results and is now nearly fifty points clear of Hayden Nelson in second place. The fight for second and third in the championship isn’t over with twenty-one points separating Nelson from Henry Snell in third. With seventy-five points up for grabs at the final round, positions are locked away just yet. Read more on our Facebook page…

Starting from round one of the 2021 season at Phillip Island, the YRD team will carry an extensive range of Yamaha OEM Parts, accessories and products to cater for all Yamaha riders regardless of class or capacity, covering everyone from the OJC R15 Cup through to Yamaha riders contesting the 1000cc Superbike Championship. This is another benefit only available to Yamaha riders and a prime example of what bLU cRU is all about. “We have everything in place for it to be a great 2021 season and can all Yamaha riders please touch base with Stewart and Janice at the opening round as they are only too happy to help and provide the best service possible,” Redding ends.
