We had the opportunity to compete in the @leap_arts Sandcastle Classic again, teaming up with Malcom X Academy, @lms_architects , Nibbi Brothers, Engineering350, and many other sponsors as the Cosmic Astronauts team! It was so fun spending the day at the beach creating with the students and seeing all the incredible space themed sandcastles that were built.

We had a great time walking some of our project sites in Mission Rock! MBS 9A, a collaboration we worked on with @mithun_design , is nearing the end of construction. It was great to visit as a team and see some of the great projects we’ve worked on in the area. To top it all off we ended with a happy hour at another project of ours - the new rooftop bar @cavana.sf@lumahotelsanfrancisco

The affordable housing development is a collaboration between Mission Economic Development Agency and China Town’s Community Development Center, which enlisted the architectural talents of @mithun_design and @y.a.studio to create 127 apartments for families and transitional-age youth. At BŌK, we worked with designers to develop a custom pattern in a bright green finish to incorporate wallscreens and matching guardrails that span nine stories of the building. The façade cladding encloses the building’s walking bridge on each floor and provides a vibrant backdrop for the active community hub.

Project Spotlight: Casa Adelante 1515 South Van Ness
Casa Adelante 1515 South Van Ness is a 100% affordable housing project we are working on in collaboration with @davidbakerarchitects . There will be 168 units of housing as well as common spaces, an early learning center, a recreation room, coworking space, and a community serving non-profit commercial space. This project will also have a roof deck and two courtyards, one shared with the senior housing next door to provide intergenerational connection.

Born and raised in Japan, Erina earned her Bachelor of Architecture from the Academy of Art University. With a deep passion for crafting spaces that are both functional and inspiring, she is committed to designing environments that enrich community well-being and functionality.
Beyond her architectural pursuits, Erina is an avid marathon runner who loves to discover new places with her pet bird, Kiwi. Her diverse interests also include cooking, exploring new restaurants, oil painting, and playing the piano!

Project Spotlight: 967 Mission
967 Mission is a senior affordable housing project we are working in collaboration with @lms_architects to bring to the SOMA neighborhood of San Francisco. We are using this small site to create 95 units of housing, as well as event space for the community and a gathering space for residents. We are excited to see this project continue to progress!

Slide 2: My name is Coleman. I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and I am a rising senior at the University of San Francisco. I enjoy implementing thoughtful and detail oriented design in a range of disciplines. I love ice cream, reading and studying historical architecture in the city.

A little about the dish: Originally from Espírito Santo (a small state on the southeast coast of Brazil), Moqueca Capixaba is a light and mildly flavored seafood dish comprised mainly of white fish and shrimp cooked in a base of tomatoes, onions, cilantro and annatto. It is typically cooked in a clay pot known as Panela de Barro and served steaming hot with white rice and Pirão (a kind of seafood chowder with a cassava base). In spite of being served hot, its mild flavor and lightness pair well with the tropical climate and it’s a common Sunday lunch after a morning at the beach.
