The @basscoastfest schedule drop has got me feeling some kinda way.
The curation is immaculate as always, and there are a heap of must sees, but I’m personally most fired up to go full warrior mode 3am Sunday at Slay Bay. Where am I going to see you?
⚔️
Last night was the perfect fever dream.
The magic of my unique local community, the building energy and eye for detail of @basscoastfest & and the serving of an absolute dubplate clinic all coming together in unison at a grassroots level at home and making my heart full.
By the time closing rolled around it was hard to let go of the off the chain energy that had been built, and now that festival season is just around the corner soon we won’t have to.
⛓️🖤
Frigid winter temps take me straight to dreaming about sweatin’ it up in the depths of summer.
@basscoastfest is the hottest time of my year in every sense of the word and thankfully only the dubplates being served are cold 🥶
Holding on to those warm thoughts…
I’m happy to say I’m back amongst the lovely @basscoaststreetteam . I’m already starting to feel the pull of the front row reeling me in and I’m looking forward to getting locked to the bins with you.
Last years event was legendary & i have my suspicions we might just top it this time around 🫡

Forever a dub pirate 🏴☠️⚔️
A couple of mementos from one of my favourite ever sonic sessions when @subchakra treated us to a Juan Forte lock-in.
Thanks for the keepsakes @enchantedforesthoe420
I love witnessing the growth of creatives and seeing authentic talent being celebrated at any level.
I stumbled on @_ponda ‘s production during a dub dig, it immediately hit and became something I kept coming back to within my own mixing. After getting to see a late-night festival set of his shortly after, I also became a fan of his performances and the visible energy and passion for the culture & sound.
Online music nerd chat ensued, and I quickly learnt our values align. We finally got to meet up through the @basscoaststreetteam and i was stoked to see his name on the @basscoastfest lineup. My fave festival recognising & platforming local talent with integrity is super reaffirming.
He crushed it, and it felt special to be amongst a crowd that felt so personally invested to witness a key chapter in someone’s creative trajectory.
Things came full circle when Ponda agreed to play in my little community that I felt would benefit from the same energy, and with who I wanted to recreate a lil of the Bass Coast magic for anyone that missed it.
I’m endlessly thankful for the connections that creativity offers, and supportive, inclusive and uplifting communities are everything, and I hope you can speak out when someone makes something you connect with :)
Now that summer is starting to shut down it means I’m getting closer to another 72 hours of Slay Bay right?
I love shifting with the seasons, but this year I find myself trying to hold on to the warmer months that little bit longer and feeling a little more sentimental again towards those flawless front-row sessions.
I’m going to take it as a sign that summer, and this weekend in particular, were both just that good 🫡
5 years ago to this day my risk tolerance and bike handling skills peaked, but my love of spending time finding a flow state on two wheels hasn’t diminished.
I can’t imagine a life without disconnecting and dancing on bikes in the forest being routine, and meditating through movement in all its forms as a means of self expression is at the core of me, be it in front of a sound-system or sliding in snow on planks of wood.
I’m glad that slowly becoming wiser and learning to tune in to my creaky body has reined me in, because I’m locked into the long game and don’t have any plans to stop dancing in the forest any time soon 🫡
The weekend was without a doubt the least I’ve ever used my phone at a festival and I take that as a major positive.
There was far too much playtime, human connection and deep musical exploration to focus on to be willing to remove myself from the present moment.
I was often physically jammed in the human amoeba far too deep to even contemplate it, or listening so intently I would hate for anything to interrupt my exploration.
Thankyou to everyone that contributed to that space and who facilitated in their own way to taking my brain to some of the greatest depths of music that it has been 🖤
Thankyou once again to the our unique little community that continues to passionately support underground music with their time and energy, and who always turn up present and in form for the dance.
Without you we wouldn’t have the same platform to connect talented friends or to create and curate a space for shared experience and connection. The fortune I feel for being able to platform musical experiences I love with you in this small mountain town will never be overlooked.
We appreciate you @_ponda for making the long drive out and being one of the nicest guys in dubstep & @purple_corn_ & @phatz_ for always delivering to the home crowd.
@saigeemma continues to evolve the space and we couldn’t do it without the endless support and trust of @lastdrop_revelstoke
There was lots to love about last weekend and until next time 🫡
