The 2026 Fellowship and Ambassador application is now open. We are excited to invite HBCU students from all institutions and all majors to apply for this year’s cohort. Great news — both tracks are paid! This year’s cohort has a midterm election ahead of them and will be responsible for encouraging HBCU students to be engaged this fall. Priority deadline is April 13.

Before the speeches, before the stages, before history was made — there was an HBCU. Rev. Jesse Jackson’s leadership began taking shape on the campus of North Carolina A&T, an institution known for sharpening conviction and cultivating courage. HBCUs have always been more than academic spaces. They are training grounds for purpose. Places where student leaders are guided to use their voices in SGA meetings and campus organizing before carrying that brilliance into the world. In 1963, he answered the call. And the nation still feels the echoes of that choice today. We honor his service. And we remain grateful for our institutions that continue to shape leaders who will positively impact our future.

‘Culture, Community and Student Leadership’ is a new session that I’ve developed to share what I’ve learned from my leadership experiences between 2016-2018 on the campus of Dillard University. Throughout the session, I help college students understand their why when advocating for issues, identify the community that they are hoping to support and determine their unique leadership style when mobilizing their student body. I had the opportunity to introduce this session to NAACP Youth & College (@naacpyc_ ) leaders during their recent summit. Thank you to my friends in the youth engagement movement @mr.lewis___ , @_keturahdaijah and @lyricalmarie for the invitation and your leadership. Proud of the work you’re leading. Excited to share this session with the 2026 cohort of Vote HBCU fellows ahead of the midterm elections.

We’re excited to welcome Mason Posey as Xceleader’s Controller, bringing world-class financial expertise to ensure we’re maximizing every dollar for student impact. Mason brings deep experience in accounting and tax strategy, with degrees from Florida A&M University (B.S. Accounting) and DePaul University (M.S. Taxation). A Chicago native and proud Brother of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., he understands the importance of combining excellence with purpose-driven leadership. As we scale our programs across the HBCU community, Mason’s leadership ensures we maintain the highest standards of financial integrity and compliance—building trust with our donors and maximizing impact for the students we serve. Welcome to the team, Mason. Let’s build. 🔨

When Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. needed to rally the movement, he went to HBCUs. When he needed foot soldiers, HBCU students answered. When America needed changing, HBCUs delivered the leaders and continue to support that legacy today.

What happens when women from 20+ HBCUs come together in the nation’s capital? Community. Vision. Power. Still reflecting on the impact of our November 2025 Summit. It was a weekend rooted in shared experiences, leadership development, and connection that will last far beyond that moment. Grateful for the women who showed up, poured in, and led with purpose. As we step into January 2026, the energy continues and the work goes on. More than a summit - it’s a sisterhood. 💕 #XceleadHer #HBCULeaders #BlackWomenLead #WomenInLeadership #SisterhoodInAction LeadershipDevelopment

Xceleader’s multi-year core funding expires in December 2027, and the national funding landscape for organizations creating access for Black and other underrepresented students is continuing to tighten. Since 2018, we have registered more than 4,000 HBCU students to vote, trained over 450 HBCU women, invested $15,000 in student entrepreneurs, and built a national network of 5,000 HBCU alumni who mentor and guide the next generation. We are leaning on our community this Giving Tuesday to help sustain and grow this impact by donating, connecting us to funders, and opening doors to corporate sponsorship opportunities. #HBCUalum #HBCU #givingtuesday

We are proud to share that Xceleader’s Vote HBCU program (@votehbcu ) is the recipient of a 2025 Anthem Award (@anthemawards ) in their Human & Civil Rights: Grassroots Effort category. The award recognizes the contributions of ten students across HBCU campuses in six states and Washington, D.C. In under 30 days, Vote HBCU registered 859 students across 10 campuses with 20 events, reached 319K+ accounts online, engaged 6.5K students in-person and inspired a wave of student-led voter activation events—cementing HBCU students as powerful voices in shaping the future of our democracy. Thank you to our friends at @headcountorg for helping to make this tour possible and our student videographer @ashlancollins for capturing every moment.
