It is a show, an exhibition, a salon, and an experience by artist and author George McCalman. With performances by Michael Wayne Turner III, Nkechi Njaka, and Gabriele Christian at Pier 29 in San Francisco. Another Year of Life, Same Unshakeable Joy 🎂☺️ This image perfectly captures my past year. I’ve been working, I mean WORKING! — and things have not always been neat or tidy. There have been many life changing wins and also some illuminating losses, but above all, I’ve experienced joy — unadulterated, unmistakeable, life sustaining joy. This photo was taken by a one of a kind human with an infectious spirit, the incomparable @alex_elle . Her words sit with me as I reflect on my past and envision my future, “Your dreams will be too big for some people—and still you must dream” I’m eternally grateful for every person who continues to dream with me, even when it’s unconventional or uncharted. It’s Been a minute… here’s Why. This winter has been very affirming and cathartic in many ways. I’m deeply honored by how community shows up for me. The challenges and obstacles have all been worth it because I got to love on so many wonderful people. This all came to a fresh perspective in gratitude as we wrapped THROUGHLINE Vol.II The road ahead is ever changing and with so much global uncertainty, the one thing I’m assured of, is the unyielding power of community. I pray God allows me the strength and continued vision to serve you to the best of my ability. Thank you to the 16 Women who answered my call and stood in the light you are beyond deserving of.
