Chief Justice John Roberts seems to actually be struggling with his conscience in the photograph this little portrait is based on. Having spent my adult life studying the minutiae of facial inflections and their relationship to the actual emotional currents that might be behind them… I feel a fairly qualified detector of pretense, of forced or faked emotions manifesting in an artificiality of facial bexpression. Roberts conflict about the evisceration of the Voting Rights Act seems real. And so one cannot help but wonder what external influences are operating on him? Or is it his own demons he is struggling with?
Unlike some on the bench who seem hardened into an agenda, painting his face made me feel his pain, and maybe mock it a bit. Because surely he knows the sinister implications and ramifications for the ruling he just oversaw. I am not a judge, but I am a keen observer, and I am always open to the observations of others (although I beg anyone who might be motivated to comment, to please remain as civil as possible). We are living through very trying and divisive times and I am reminded of the trying and divisive times I grew up in when the battle for Civil Rights seemed a clear fight for what is right and I am genuinely baffled seeing those rights once again threatened and thrown into question.
A short story or two in New York anyone? This marks my 25th year with this extraordinary company @wordtheatre We’re all so fortunate that @cedering.fox puts the effort she does into these evenings paring great writers with actors, who tell their stories to live audiences. My third time reading @davidmeansfiction (ordinarily I’m too dignified to gush, but gush I must!:). Come if you’re in town and free for the evening of May 19th 🌹💙
Guess who’s got the drop on me? And believe it or not, I still managed to get a couple a pops off at him before I ’got outta Dodge’. #ᴛʙᴛ #toomanyhints #namedropping #goodstories though:)
#ᴛʙᴛ #mantoy #mug #starwars #twd To have achieved action-figure, funko-pop status… to have my likenesses made manifest in doll form, is an honor (however dubious:). Something old,
Something new, Clues hidden within 😅
Sweet 16 ❤️ And it doesn’t get any sweeter. Rowan Amara you are a heartbreaker, in all the best of ways, you break my heart wide open and let the rays shine out. I bask in the sun of your loving kindness and thank every day I get to be with you ( so glad I made it back in town on time to celebrate your awesomeness!) Happy Birthday!
The Walking Dead's Xander Berkeley is sure to make a splash this Thursday at the Saban!
There are still tickets to The Ocean: Our Liquid Universe available through the link in our bio!
Yesterday was Rob Reiner’s Birthday. It is such a tragic loss that he is no longer with us. This movie was such a cool experience to have been a part of. The table read alone was epic, as you can imagine. A Few Big Names, to say the least. Billy Crystal (Rob’s bestie) showed up just to watch. Jack had on a ‘save the planet’ T shirt, with the bright blue globe and a reissue of the James Dean red jacket from Rebel (which he zipped up high on cue with his entrance into the final scene.m). He came with the whole thing memorized as I recall (unusual for a table read), which elevated the experience, bringing everyone up to a higher level.
Rob was this powerful, avuncular captain, quietly at the helm the whole time. Funny, smart and calm. Anyone I ever met who knew him or worked with him felt the same. Wow. 🌹❤️🩹🌹 Continued condolences to the whole extended family, unimaginable grief they have had to endure. #robreiner #rip #afewgoodmen
Wait for it… #tbt to that time in Texas while filming @thedarkandthewicked when someone took up residence in my hat. Stayed up there for the whole scene. Made a damn nest in the crown! I took her to be my spirit animal for the role.
Seeing this old photo of Van Gogh yesterday stopped me in my tracks. I felt deeply connected to the sensitivities that drove him mad. So painting him here, allowed me into this sadness and despair, I had been struggling with (even trying to avoid), and oddly brought me a moment of peace.
