2008 was the year I met @writewithtayo while interning at Kachifo Limited @farafinabooks but it was 2009 that we partnered up and The Bookaholic Blog was born. We both jumped into the murky waters of freelance writing and editing. This period laid the foundation for our careers as wordsmiths. From rapporteuring to blogging to travelling to writing together, we have had quite the ride. But beyond the words on the page and screen, we have formed a sisterhood; we’re family. I am so proud of your growth Tayoyo and amazed at how much you have achieved over the years. You. Did. It. You said you would make a living out of words and you have, locally and internationally. You are indeed a committed lover of words. It is manifest in all that you do—as a freelance writer, editor who also loves to teach…beyond these, you find ways to interpret the realities around you; to make others make sense of them as well, in simple words, spoken or written. If you are in need of writing, photography, editing services or want help with your LinkedIn strategy, reach out to @storiesclick.co.uk . I have worked with them in various capacities over the years and it has been such a rewarding experience. #IsabellaAdediji #30DaysOfHerspiration #HERspiration #HERspiration2025 #TemitayoOlofinlua

More than an event… The @bbbookfestival is: Stories that remind you of who you are. Conversations that linger. A rich experience. Representation. Networking. Heritage. Pride. And more… #writing #writingcommunity #storytelling #books

This is not just a sign. These powerful words stopped me on a cold Saturday afternoon to take a picture. They made me think about editing. While this may be just a construction hoarding keeping the public away from a building sight, I was more drawn to the vision in the text… While this may look like something is being pulled down, something is also being built… And this is so similar to the editing process. While writers live deep inside their stories—inside their characters’ heads, with scenes that keep them up at night—editors stand just far enough to see the bigger picture. Not just what the story is, but what the story can be. And to go from ‘the picture’ to the ‘bigger picture’, we spot the patterns, gaps and chapters that could shine brighter. So when as an editor, I ask you questions, I don’t doubt your brilliant story; I believe your story can go further than you imagine. If you’re working on something and you’re too close to see it clearly, that’s where I come in. I bring clarity to your story so it reaches the reader it deserves! Got a story that’s ready for the bigger picture? This is your sign to send me a DM! #storytelling #edits #editing #writing

‘You are worthy of the story you want to tell!’ @itsbusayo_xo spilling writing gems! Maybe it’s been sitting with you, or you’ve been sitting with it, for years… Maybe it scares you a little—that’s a sign, tell it anyway… Someone out there wants to read it! #writing #storytelling #advice

When hair, art and culture link up, magic happens! I witnessed pure magic as @sa.dokuillo illustrated (or drew?-forgive me, I don’t know which) at @bbbookfestival , and wow the talent jumped off the page. This session was everything: black hair, storytelling, and community. Yes, it spotlighted the book ‘Tyrone’s Cool Crown’ by @lennyhenryofficial and @sa.dokuillo but it was a celebration of culture, history and the beauty of black hair. And the practical session by Lush hair? 😘 From art to hair demonstrations, it was interactive, joyful and beautifully curated! Should more book events be hands-on? #black #blackhair #culture

How do you describe an experience that’s many things? You use everything 😛 Exactly a month ago, I did some social media work with @bbbookfestival I enjoyed my time at the children’s zone of the festival as it was not only exciting but brought out my inner child with no worries in the world 🤣 I was dancing, clapping, feeling the energy in the room…while remembering ‘Temi please you are on a job!’ But honestly, the joy was contagious. Books + kids + vibes = my kind of chaos! Here’s the highlight reel. What’s one word for this energy? Cover art image by @sa.dokuillo #kids #blackbritish #books #festival

That academic paper that ‘consumed’ me… While at uni, I was consumed by @mtvshuga (that’s too much consumption) 😛 So, it wasn’t strange to write on it. “Olofinlua’s term ‘mobile screens’ acquires symbolic resonances as the book goes on: it names the little screens on our phones but also the ubiquity that defines the contemporary screen media era, and it suggests a mediated world in constant flux and motion. This whole project shows the way to a more mobile screen studies, one that goes everywhere we go, nimble and adaptable, adventurous and humane, capable of taking stock of a burgeoning world.” Jonathan Haynes on ‘Contemporary African Screen Worlds’ edited by @lindiwedovey @ginaanulikaezeimo & Michael W. Epstein’s files (art edition) No, this isn’t about Jeffrey Epstein, this is about Jacob Epstein, the artist. No, this isn’t about the scandal rocking America, the British royal family—and dare I say, the world?—it is about an exhibition I saw at @thenewartgallerywalsall I had an amazing time pondering on immortality and art in this room packed with Jacob Epstein’s possessions, with questions (and answers) hovering around. This seems like a personal project but one many will connect with because it’s a question we all have to answer. Anyway, I liked how intentional the organisation of the project was, because how do you make sense (what some people call organise) of someone’s life story told through objects? Of course it was quite revealing…but the dead don’t care about the question: if you make art what happens when you die? What do you think? #art #epstein #artist #exhibition

‘My child stopped talking after we moved.’ I kept hearing this over and over from immigrant mums and I couldn’t ignore it. So, I went digging. 📌 Migration and speech delay—connected? 📌 More screen time abroad—harmful or helpful? 📌 From multiple aunties to solo living—does it affect our kids? I spoke with mums and trained behavioural therapist @thedaisyjonathan for @blackballaduk and it led to this article (link in the comments) What’s your take? Let’s talk in the comments! #migration #kids #speechdelay #therapy

October was hectic… Filled with form-filling exercises (which I hate!)… Social media work with @bbbookfestival (more on this soon) Quick London trips…for some enlightening workshops with @peopleseconomy (Not knowing that city so well means I’ve to mentally prepare before booking my tickets 😌) Attended the inspiring @tlhawards with @bros.withwords , learning even children can be heroes too. Autumn is here now, with darkness swooping on us faster than before… Yet, thankful for another opportunity to be here, to give it all my best shot, despite all the challenges! PS. Still not used to taking pictures during events. Will try again next time 😌 📸 by @storiesclick.co.uk #november #start #writing
