A survivor of atrocity in the 1993 genocide in Burundi, Gilbert tells his story of faith, ultimate forgiveness, living and running with joy.
Gazelle Foundation focuses on bringing clean water to the people of Burundi. While water is prevalent in Burundi, clean water is not easily accessible in the mountainous terrain and rural sections, where most of the population lives. Consequently, 100% of Burundians in these areas are affected by water-borne illnesses which lead to typhoid, hepatitis A, schistosomiasis, bacterial and protozoal diarrhea, and death.
When clean water is available, children are able to attend school, adults can be employed, hospitals can practice safe medicine, and of course, water-borne illnesses are dramatically reduced.
Here in Texas, many people lost water for days because of winter storms. As such, finding potable water became our first priority, traveling many miles to find clean water. That’s a mere glimpse of what it’s like for Burundians every single day.
