Story time:
Last year, I asked @jah4ira parents for her hand in marriage.. this was Jan/Feb of 2025. My plan was to design the ring and have it made in time for me to set up a proposal at the location we had our first date (a hiking trail in the backroads of Lancaster County). As time would have it, the ring required more than anticipated so I kept pushing things back..
As the summer approached, I finally was able to put my deposit down and start the creation of the ring. During this time, I was thinking - how can I make this location work in the winter time? Again, I had to push it all back until 2026.
We were invited to go on a trip with my family to Puerto Rico for Christmas - see my family and spend time on our island. Unfortunately, prices were too crazy for all 3 of us.. so I jokingly said, “I bet you I can find flights to Spain cheaper than this..”
And so.. I did. Originally it was intended to be a birthday trip for Mahalia. (I know.. Spain trip for a 2 year old??) we want her to get acclimated to the world, not just Lancaster. But then my wheels turned as the ring I was designing for Jahaira was coming to a finish. “Maybe I can set up a proposal while we are in Spain??”
My love for research and planning turned this trip across seas into an excursion that will create a family memory that will last forever. I found a photographer on @airbnb (I had no idea they had this type of service until now). Hector responded quickly and truly showed he cared about this important moment. So I booked him. He helped me plan it all to the T.
I am so thankful to God and our families for being so supportive through it all. I couldn’t imagine proposing to the love of my life in any other city, state or country. 💜🇪🇸💍
Spain will have a piece of our heart forever now.
