Travel with us to Malawi to learn how porridge is made and how a $10,000 investment to purchase a solar dryer reduced flour drying time from 1 week to 3 hours, resulting in a 70% increase in income for farmers.
This is the power inside food.

An up note for your Tuesday. Mudzi Connect was an early investor in @ladder_to_learning 's Literacy Hubs in Malawi public primary schools. After six weeks, 80% of students improve reading competency by at least one level. Today, L2L is reaching 50K+ students. 📚📚

Need inspo? Look to Oxford this week. Our Executive Director @pnathenson and Director of Guatemala grantmaking @marthalidiaoxi were at the @skollworldforum and participated in events with 6,000 other people trying to make the world better. Community building. Health innovation. Literacy. Equity. Justice. Impact. All of it, one week. We're tired. And hopeful. Let's go, we got this!! ✊🏽

World Connect activates power inside communities by co-investing with them to advance their solutions to local poverty. Our May 19th benefit dinner in NYC will celebrate the POWER INSIDE FOOD and the 200+ investments we've made in food security and food systems innovation, like this $750 investment we made in a banana farming innovation that lifted hundreds of families out of poverty.
See link in bio to RSVP for the benefit dinner!

Back on our soap box. We co-invested $2,950 with the community of Nyabirehe in Rwanda to train teachers, students, and parents in soap-making.
The result: 1000+ healthier students, reduced absences, increased income from soap sales. That is the power inside communities.

World Connect funding has improved health services for 1.5M people worldwide. Our grant-making hub in Guatemala launched just last year, and already a health clinic was constructed in 5 months. When communities lead, progress is lightning fast!
Thank you to our partners at @connectedfellows and the Development Advisory Committee (COCODES) of El Mirador for your commitment to community health!

It's time to give canners, some of the city's most hardworking environmental workers who almost single-handedly drive the success of our state’s most successful recycling system, a raise.
On May 26th, we’re holding a one-day, pop up redemption center - where we will simulate the passage of the Bigger Better Bottle Bill, and redeem all bottles and cans at the 10-cent rate. This event will build awareness for this critical environmental bill that also supports some of the city's most vulnerable populations.
Please join us for the opening of Siyan Wong’s exhibition “Make it 10 Cents” and silent auction on April 14th to raise the funds to pay canners and host this event. Please also join the panel following the pop up redemption center on May 26th.
Stay tuned for locations!
