Historically I've steered away from “meet the person behind the scenes” type posts — this channel isn’t about me. It’s about our advertisers (businesses, non-profits and events) and the communities we celebrate. But I’ve been told things look corporate and too professional and I’ve had people say, “Oh wow, you’re actually a real person — I’ll have another look!” So here’s a little Google-generated collection of selfies from over the years for #ThrowbackThursday Hi, I’m Merewyn — marketing mentor and connector at @sayerssolutions , @fsb_uk volunteer (previously elected member representative in West Yorkshire), wife, mum, friend and music lover (especially rave — the harder the better, though not so much techno) ... And of course founder of Work Rest or Play, which is the rebrand of the HD8 Network which I created in 2013. I ditched my Amazon account more than seven years ago and love finding great local places to go and spend my money. People often think my business is all about social media or networking (or simply taking selfies 🤣) ... Or they assume I work for FSB ... but really those are just tools I use to build brand awareness — and it seems to have worked, since everyone knows me… just not always what I do! A journey for women... Following the success of our hosted India journey earlier this year, I’m so excited to share details of our next women-only hosted experience - Morocco Through HER Eyes. With Intrepid Travel and hosted by my wonderful colleague Pippa, this small group journey takes place from 10–15 September 2026. Having visited Morocco myself a couple of times, it’s a destination that has completely stayed with me. From the energy and colour of Marrakech to the calm of the Atlas Mountains and the magic of the desert at sunset, this itinerary has been carefully designed alongside trusted local experts to showcase a deeper, more meaningful side of the country. Along the way, you’ll meet and connect with inspiring local women, including the team at Amal Association, which supports women into employment through culinary training, and the pioneering women behind the renowned restaurant Al Fassia. There’ll also be opportunities to enjoy home-cooked meals, genuine conversations and authentic cultural experiences throughout the journey. You’ll travel as part of a small, supportive women-only group, staying in beautiful riads, a mountain retreat and a stylish desert camp. Expect gentle guided walks, time to explore, moments to relax and an experience designed to feel welcoming, enriching and comfortable, whether you’re travelling solo or with a friend.
