SEALED SHUTTER DISCOVERY: The sitting room of this old Georgian vicarage was hiding something quite remarkable. I was preparing the room, when I noticed hinges on the edge of the bay window panels. This could only mean one thing (well, either that or someone was playing a cruel prank for some unsuspecting blonde guy to fall for years down the line). But luckily for me, and more importantly, my customers… what I found was far beyond what I had hoped. For them to be working so (almost) perfectly, it was like hitting the jackpot. The will need some minor adjustments, but other than that, they swing pretty smoothly. With the rest of the room now completed, these have taken a bit of a back seat for now, but are on the radar to be re-finished at some point, so keep your eyes peeled, it will be real CLOSURE for this room. I said it’ll be real CL…oh never mind. Anyway, I hope you like this find as much as I did, thanks for watching āœŒšŸ¼ #home #homedecor #interiordesign #periodhome #georgian #reels #viral #renovation #reno #restoration #trending

ANOTHER SHINY ONE āœØšŸŖ©ā¤ļø This time around, is a stunning red, proving a grand entrance to this early 1700s Georgian home. This wa apart of a larger project, which I will showcase seperately, but for now let’s just concentrate on the door šŸ˜ Finished in @tikkurila_uk Miranol high gloss (colour: Marmeladi) White Portico surround finished in Sikkens XD gloss. Do you like this colour, and what colour do you want to see me do next? #red #door #carpentry #shine #gloss #wood #woodwork #doorsofinstagram #reno #restoration #periodhome #periodproperty #home #homereno #viral #trending #decoração #reelsinstagram

SHINY HIGH GLOSS BLACK DOORS ✨🪩 Not an easy thing to get right… When it comes to painting high gloss, especially in the darkest colour possible, there is nowhere to hide. 🫣 Making sure the prep is on point a huge part of the final finish. My Process on this was: •To sand back where somebody else had tried previously. •Skim fill surface with Toupret Gras a Laquer (now discontinued, but Prestonette do a version) •Sand with 400grit •Prime with @tikkurila_uk ultra primer. •Sand with 400grit •First topcoat with Tikkurila miranol high gloss •Sand with 800grit, ensuring not to cut back through the surface •Final topcoat with Miranol gloss. Each step requires a good clean down of the surface, ensuring no dust is present, and paint warmed to aid flow. Each door will require a slightly different process when it comes to prep, but these were pretty solid new doors, with no major, deep filling required. What are your thoughts? šŸ’ #paint #decor #home #homedecor #gloss #reflection #reno #renovation #restoration #design #interiordesign #instagram #door #decoration

PAINT IT BLACK šŸ–¤šŸ–¤šŸ–¤ This is a job I did a few years ago when the client wanted the kitchen island to be taken from dark grey to black. After a degrease and a sand, I could then fill and then prime with black Caparol Haftprimer. after a pad down, it was then on with 2 coats of black Tikkurila intact 8. Which leaves a lovely soft, subtle and durable sheen 🤩🤩 what do you think? #reels #viral #trending #black #kitchen

250+ YEAR OLD WINDOW PREP This Oak window has been neglected for years, and this is the first stage in restoring it back to its former glory. This is on a stunning farmhouse, working for @nickauston . Today was spent scraping and sanding, with more of the same tomorrow, mainly on the concave curved details of the windows. Still a long way to go, and I will show you each step as I do them, and what i’m using. so stay tuned. šŸ«¶šŸ» #trending #viral #Home #decor #restoration

DITCHING THE CABLES How many times can one man say the word ā€˜gamechanger’ in 2.5mins. Quite a few, according to this šŸ˜…šŸ˜…šŸ˜… But for what I need this set up for, it could be just that! @flex_tools_uk have sent me this neat little set up to test, and so far i’m pretty impressed. I have been looking to switch to cordless for a long time now, as the older I get, the more frustrated I become with cables on a daily basis 🤬🤬. I’m still a way off of transitioning over fully to battery, but having this little set up for my exteriors, (where power access can often be a pain) will be great. The addition I would like to see on the next model would be bluetooth connectivity so it enables an auto start/end when you turn the sander on. But other than that, it seems pretty good! Once I have given it a proper run out during my busy exterior season, I will check back in and let you know how it has performed. From a cost POV, the vacuum comes in at a VERY cheap Ā£170odd, so even having it for little tidy up jobs or use cleaning the car, it seems a bargain. And looking at the sander price, with batteries and systainer, it looks to be around Ā£300. Comparing that to the likes of Festool for the same kind of sander with batteries, you are looking at Ā£600. So if budgets are a factor, that’s something to consider. Have you used this setup yet, is there something i’m missing? Let me know. #GIFTED #reels #diy #home #showcase

ONE POUND EIGHTY.. COMBINED!!!!😱😱😱 That’s how much it cost for 2 brushes that got these results. Sometimes you need to leave snobbery at the door (or window) and if it works… it works. Simple as that. Aldi and Home Bargains coming together in perfect matrimony here. Have you used them? are you as gutted as me that Aldi haven’t stocked these in years? i’m down to my last two šŸ˜“ Also, still waiting on that call from @homebargains for that collab šŸ‘»šŸ’…šŸ¼ Everyone please tag them so this juggernaut of a link up can happen šŸ˜… And @aldiuk come on, do a shift and get these back in stock. On behalf of a nation: PLEASE! #reels #pov #viral #Home #trending

CEMENT IN A TUBE?! For the last few years I have been using this stuff from @soudal_group_ for minor repairs around my exterior projects. When I first applied it, I thought there was something wrong with it. It comes out like a greeny -grey colour. But once dried, I was pretty blown away by it. Not only is it pretty cheap and about 3 quid a tube, it actuakly seems to last. Looking back on old repairs, it’s still there and hasn’t budged. It’s hard to describe, but it dries rock hard, but has a degree of flexibility too it too. Almost like caulk and cement mixed together in perfect harmony. I don’t know the science behind it, but for projects like this, it’s been invaluable. Have you tried it? Have you got any projects you think you can use it on? Let me know below! #diy #building #reels #viral #trending

PLASTERERS WONT WANT YOU TO SEE THIS! šŸ‘€šŸ‘€ (First I want to say sorry to any plasterers that follow me, it’s not personal, it just turns out reels need a good hook these days and you are the collateral šŸ«¶šŸ») After stripping the whole room from 4 layers of wallpaper, there was a lot of prep work throughout. My first step was to sand and seal all the walls with Zinsser gardz, which will seal any remaining wallpaper paste residue. I then skimmed all of the walls with Tikkurila Presto lightweight filler. This was my first run out with this, and it goes on like butter, and sands down SO smoothly! I was very impressed. After the first coat of paint, I could snag-fill anything that was needed, spot prime that, and then one last full coat. The paint used was Little Greene ā€˜Baluster’. One advantage of skim-filling as opposed to plastering in this situation, is that you don’t lose any depth of the profile of skirting board tops, or underside of picture rails etc. Would you have opted for filler or plaster if this was your room? #reels #viral #trending #home #homedecor

I CALLED THIS ā€˜CHEWBACCA’ Never underestimate just how much work is in poor quality MDF. This is a throwback to 5 years ago, when I was faced with a timber I can only describe as resembling Chewbacca. This was at the height during covid of when the quality of available timber, was embarrassingly poor. After sanding it to an oblivion, that wasn’t the end of my woes. The client requested original Farrow& Ball in ā€˜railings’ modern eggshell. I hadn’t had any issues in the past so thought nothing of it, but had heard dark colours can be problematic. Boy was that proved right. I did everything by the book with the correct primers, drying times and application methods. But even though it was mid august with good airflow…3 days later, the first coat of eggshell was still tacky, meaning I couldn’t sand it properly for the next coat. A straight forward job, swiftly becoming a real headache for both me and the client. But spread over a number of days and trips, I managed to get it over the line, and undeniably, the results became worth it. Baring in mind that dark colours are notoriously tricky to get right, I was proud of how it came out in the end. Customer was great about it all, but lessons were learnt, one being to see the actual job first to see what the timber is like before you actually quote for it. The difference between this brown MDF and something like MR Medite, is a fair change in price, but also a fair change in the decorating costs too through much more prep. Probably about 2 days in this case. Sprayer used was the @gracoinc GXFF airless. Anyway, all is well that ends well,it turned out beautifully 🤩 Double tap if you agree! ā¤ļø #posts #pictureoftheday #decor #home #spraying
