“If you don’t come in, it’ll get worse.” "I need to see you 3 times a week." “Your spine is out of alignment.” "Your hip is out." This isn't healthcare. It's manipulation, and not the nice-feeling spinal kind. Your body is not that fragile. It was made to handle stunning forces and feats. Your joints don’t just “shift out of place” because you slept wrong or picked up your groceries. But if no one is teaching you how to move, load, and trust your body again…you're being kept dependent on purpose. You deserve care that builds you up, not scares you into staying. The goal should not be to keep you coming back to a clinic forever. My goal as a PT is to give you the tools and the knowledge to address and progress your recovery and hopefully not need me anymore.

My first DNF! (Did Not Finish) TBH feels like an accomplishment in itself haha. We were “running” on 4 hours of sleep and no breakfast in our systems. Today, the cold rainy weather and muddy terrain won, but we’re still all smiles because Alhamdulillah for trying. We got about halfway through and decided to call it quits. Plus, the 5K was for Palestine, so I don’t regret one bit of it. Back to patient care tomorrow! What’s everyone else up to this weekend?

Let's talk about needles. Dry needling is a technique (different from acupuncture, but using the same tools) where we use a microfilament (AKA super thin) needle to go into areas of tight muscle to help them let go and finally relax. I got certified in dry needling as soon after PT school as I could. I've found so much relief in my own muscles from this technique and I hope my testimonials reflect that a lot of my patients love it, too! If you've tried massage, heat, ice, IcyHot, and stretching without proper relief, dry needling might get deep enough into the muscle to address the source of the tension. We can needle almost any muscle at any joint, from your jaw to your calves. There is never any pressure to try dry needling. If you're afraid of needles, you can tell me that without any judgment. If you're interested in being needled, check out my services and sign up for a free consultation call via the link in my bio! Or, DM me or comment below with more questions.

If you've ever had your healthcare concerns dismissed because of your weight, this one is for you. I don't take this issue lightly. Fatphobia in medicine can quite literally lead to eating disorders, a delay in the actual diagnosis, and even weight gain due to stress and shame. Your doctor's job is not to shame you. It's to educate you and give you the tools you need to feel and move better. I'm not saying that weight at either extreme (low or high weight) has NO impact on pain. What I AM saying is that simply being told to "just lose weight" when you're in pain is not only not helpful, it can cause more harm. Whether you're on the search for a physical therapist, a doctor, a dietitian, a personal trainer, or someone else in the health and wellness business - find someone who understands that you are not your weight, and that your pain isn't either.

Sometimes pains in different parts of your body seem unrelated, but they might actually be majorly impacting each other! For example: your TMJ and pelvic floor are both impacted by stress and tension. Your headache might actually be coming from your shoulders. Treating your neck might clear up your TMJ symptoms without ever touching the jaw. This is what makes pain complex, and you need a physical therapist who will evaluate you thoroughly and without ignoring the 'other' things that impact your pain: sleep, nutrition, stress, and hydration.

Your emotional health has a massive impact on your physical recovery, and vice versa. Your physical therapist should create space for you to process the hard stuff without you feeling embarrassed or apologetic.
