EP LINER NOTES:
All songs written in a 2020-2021 covid frenzy hopped up on very strong medication, prescribed by panicked practitioners. I stopped writing tunes after about 2016 (when my dad died), and stopped listening to music in 2019 after David Berman died(RIP king). I only restarted both when my dream opportunity dropped in front of me - to write songs for, but NOT play in a band.
I learned early on in life to stop approaching bands asking to write them songs after being told to repeatedly fuck off, convinced I was implying they were driving a Porsche and just needed me to offer some drifting tips. Doubling down and saying not everyone has to be a writer-director almost got me into a fist fight.
The new band was going to be a female-led punk soul band(that never played one rehearsal) and my only instruction was 'Be My Baby'. I looked up the first chord and wrote track 3, 'Waiting forever' in about an hour. It's so happy and singing about human relationships, I would never sing this. Good song though. Someone please cover this song and profit.
My favourite track is the title track.
@rubi_slowships and
@loupeakemusic 's vocal arrangements are my blueprint moving forward. I find the the name of the EP very funny and blunt, it's fascinating to see how differently others took it. 'Cut down on your habits' was a shaky attempt at writing a Devo song.
Special thanks for
@golden_rough for getting me back in the saddle,
@wintron for going above and beyond at all times (playing and label stuff - the guy has never missed a band prac, always accommodates, doesnt even live in Sydney anymore, absolute legend) and
@king.o.p.p for such a good recording experience.
If you see my homeless leprechaun persona around come say hello. Oh, and listen to the EP anywhere before you get sucked into another doomscroll. You might like it. It was powered by 6 human adults all in separate friendship circles over 3 years, that comes out to 8 times the power of the sun. Ok thanks bye xo -
