After two days of judging wine with @livermorevalleywine , my blood type is now Cab Franc! 😜 Third time to Livermore Valley and let me say Livermore Valley knows how to rock! 💥 “Uncorked” is Livermore’s wine competition showcasing the best wines coming out of here. It’s a blind tasting competition designed to highlight the region’s top producers, signature varietals, and winemaking talent. Hundreds of wines, 19 judges, and lots of purple mouths! I’ve had people ask me where is Livermore? Well it’s time you knew and time to make a visit! What you should know that makes Livermore Valley incredibly important in California wine history: 🍇It was one of the first premium wine regions in California. 🍇 This region won America’s first international wine gold medal at the 1889 Paris Exposition. 🍇Wineries were pioneers in varietally labeled Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Petite Sirah. 🍇80% of California Chardonnay plant material traces back to the famous “Wente Clone” developed here. What if you removed almost all human control… and let nature be the winemaker? A drive through vineyards, dirt roads and up mountains approximately 1000+ feet led to an enchanted, mystical forest where magic happens and nature takes the lead. @cristian.vallejo.winemaker unlocked a spiritual part of a forest where we became one with mother nature, listening and enjoying the silence of her power. @vinavikchile StoneVIK is a special wine from a very special place. Here Clay Amphorae are placed in a circular forest clearing sitting in a place where a fault line intersects a water vein, creating natural energy and vibration. These vessels are semi-buried in the ground almost giving Stonehenge vibes. 🍇 Grapes are grown using organic, biodynamic, and holistic practices with minimal intervention: no additives, native yeasts, and no filtration- giving a true expression of terroir. 🍷A blend of Cab Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon , and a splash of Carmenere eventually become one after the wine ages outdoors, surrounded by 250+ year old trees that could certainly tell many a story. Temperature, and subtle earth vibrations influence the wine creating a potion like no other. Listening to Cristian poetically explain in detail this process and how everything is from the estate- clay for amphorae, flowers for native yeast, and oak from fallen trees (barrel-oir, more on this later) take terroir to another level! This whirlwind weekend was like Coachella for wine lovers! To be invited to @vik_wine annual harvest party @vinavikchile was an honor to say the least. This annual celebration brings together wine, gastronomy, culture, art, with wine- loving , fun-loving people who certainly know how to have a good time. ViK is recognized as the World’s Best Vineyard by The World’s 50 Best Vineyards and is currently ranked the the number 1 vineyard in the world! You know it and feel it the second you enter this modern, state of the art winery. This 7 hour wine fantasy consisted of tasting stations around the estate with beautiful wines from the VIK portfolio paired with multi- course meals by top chefs using fresh and seasonal ingredients. Not one detail was missed! Then came the DJ who had everyone jumping and dancing but the big surprise was watching rockstar winemaker @cristian.vallejo.winemaker take over with his favs! 🕺🏻 A true lux event integrating wine, design, art, architecture, and landscape all layered together for the most incredible experience!
