Moving the main house and garage at this East Hampton project improved all aspects of this build - zoning conformance, expanded square footage, 10’ basements for additional programming and better mechanical spaces. It also allowed for an entirely new landscape plan that was not possible before!

The making of the stairs....
These beautiful, sculptural stairs are made of steel and plaster. They were fabricated and assembled in sections off site...then taken apart for transport and fully assembled on site in the home.
The build-up is surprisingly light weight to reduce structural needs but very strong as the thin steel interior is clad in lightweight stud framing to lock in all surfaces. Custom oak treads and integrated lighting complete this beautiful feature.

Every detail was thoughtfully considered to maintain the integrity of the original 1920’s Polhemus & Coffin designed French Norman–style house - right down to the restoration of old and replication of new bricks to the facade.
