We’ve just finished lambing season, and the new additions to the farm are already making themselves at home.
Expect the occasional little face at the barn windows - they love to have a nose at what’s going on.
What an entrance!!! After making their way down our winding Dartmoor drive, Ricky and Camilla arrived at Windout Barn in style. With their guests waiting to welcome them, the adventure into married life couldn't have begun more beautifully.
Hooray it’s Friday.
Scenes from the farm this week - lambs in the buttercups, long sauna views across Dartmoor, woodland light through the treehouse windows, feels like Spring is settling in.
It’s our twenty-year anniversary today.
When we got married at 24, just out of university, we had no real sense of what life would hold, although a life connected to farming was always the hope. It’s been quite an adventure - and a steady, enduring partnership. I’m very aware of what’s taken shape over time - not just in the bigger milestones, but in the ordinary, everyday ways we’ve built a life together with our four children.
Sam - not one for public attention - has been a constant. A great husband, father, farmer, and creator of projects; someone who can hold a lot and quietly get things done. He carries a quiet strength, brings a lot of fun, and is the rock in our family - the one who keeps things moving, who encourages, steadies, and cares for us deeply.
This is why we love creating space at Windout to host weddings and champion marriage - not as an ideal, but as something lived. Something shaped over time through commitment, patience, respect, and choosing each other in every season - with the odd cold swim and tandem bike tour along the way.
Very grateful to be married to this man, and for these twenty years.

Tucked away at Windout, Norma is a roastery run by Joe and Lauren, set in one of our barns. A small, thoughtful operation working with underrepresented growers doing great things - this is coffee done properly. From the setting to the roasting and branding, everything about it feels exciting, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to see it up and running.

We’re hosting With Good Company for the second time. What began last year as an experiment in co-creation continues to take shape - a gathering influenced as much by the land as by the people who come.
We’re glad to open Windout Barn again alongside @thelongtablestroud and @with.diversity , who are collaborating and leading the experience. Together they’re creating space for people carrying a lot - pressure, responsibility, pace - to step into something slower and more restorative.
As hosts, it’s a privilege to see the barn and landscape become part of that. To watch people reconnect with themselves, each other, and the natural world around them.

From the wheat fields to the apple orchards surrounding the barn, with Dartmoor as a backdrop, each part of the grounds offers something different.
We love the views from the top lawn, and the walk down the tree-lined drive through the orchard. There’s also the deck and outdoor baths - a slightly unexpected setting for relaxed, natural portraits.
