Today is Mother’s Day, and I’d to commemorate it by honoring the three most important women of my life.
My beloved mother, Ida Aron, of blessed memory, was kind, fiercely protective, loving, and often unintentionally hilarious. She could hold a grudge like nobody’s business, but she truly had a heart of gold, and loved both me and my brother Simon dearly; in turn, we loved and revered her beyond measure. She survived the horrors of the Holocaust, and yet maintained a positive, infectious spirit.
My first wife of nearly twenty-five years, Giovanna Aron, of blessed memory, was a radiant, magnetic, dynamic, and love-filled soul who endured a couple of heartbreaking miscarriages in our nearly ten-year quest to have children. When we were finally blessed with healthy twins in 2008, she had fulfilled the deepest yearning she’d ever known, and was the most loving, devoted, affectionate mother to our kids imaginable. Although her life was tragically cut short by the ravages of cancer in 2018, her spirit surely lives on in our kids, and they will forever be nourished and sustained by her undying love. May her memory be an eternal blessing.
Finally, I cannot overstate our good fortune in the life that the kids and I share with my beautiful, wonderful wife of nearly a year, Belinda Jaffee. A woman of extraordinary kindness, she is a fantastic mother to her son, Joe, and her daughter, Emma. I love them both dearly, and I’m so grateful that we have all gotten so close over the years; my kids and I look forward to spending many more happy years strengthening our family.
