I’m declaring 2026 as the year of the Archive. Looking forward by looking back. Been digging into my father’s Archives cause well I have them and it’s all there, all that was unsaid is there to be decoded. So much in photography to elucidate the inexplicable and mysterious if you look hard enough … Historical cycles too can tell us where we are now, we’ve seen it before here it is again, samsara and all that. Also, my Archive of film + digital gunk clogging up my closets needs some room to breathe. So digging into my Photo Archives too to see what my earlier self can tell me. This one from Spain of me in the streets of Madrid taken by Felix R Cid at the time he was in the Yale grad program for photo, a program that looks drastically different now than it did then with all the dudes prevailing Philip & others still accounted for but then they were at the height of their powers and I suppose Felix was too …

sometimes when I am still for too long and can’t sleep everything comes crowding in like breathless lovers too loud whispers forgotten friends places that live inside us like the sea roads that were steep and muddy marriages that were not mine deaths we missed women with hair tyed too tight steaming popovers just out of the oven photographs without words a kaleidoscope of blurry colors in tiny fragments till all I see is god like light
