Part One Comrades in Art @townergallery Very pleased to have been involved with this exhibition curated by Andy Friend and the great team @townergallery The exhibition is a comprehensive review of the Artists International Association. It places the work of this group - largely marginalised by a British art history establishment (go figure!!) - at the centre of radical movements in the 30s and 40s. There is a true sense that it fills an important gap in our understanding of British art history, placing their committed social realist work alongside constructivism and surrealism and drawing out the threads. Women artists are central to the narrative - as they were in the AI. Towner are running a full series of talks - a unique collection of speakers. Filter cake clay from Mone Bros. Yesterday the Ignite Material response project spent time blending this with sandstone waste and ball clay. Here is a little side project to test glaze properties of FCC. Aim is to test with woodash (and ? Frit) but first drying and grinding a sieving. First through flour sieve and then 80 grade (0.2mm). Slightly surprised at how much came through - but a ball mill would really help! @sunkenstudioleeds @glaze_gram @fahacs @unileedsculture

A really good day. Visit to Mone Bros recycle plant. Looking at materials with @fahacs @universityofleeds students and @sunkenstudioleeds as a part of the material response project. Student creative ideas constant source of inspiration and source of hope in their future
