Welcome to our extremely talented team @jesseleaman_@anthonylittlechild@__sampearce and @madelineclairefrench ! @billyfilms_au first short film currently in initial stages of pre-production.
Set in regional Australia, Billy follows James, a middle-aged son caring for his father, Billy — a lifelong horseman whose identity is slowly unravelling as dementia begins to take hold.
As financial strain forces James to rehome Billy’s beloved horses, moments of confusion, anger, humour and tenderness emerge. Memory loss, mental health struggles and financial pressure begin to collide behind closed doors, testing the bond between father and son.
This is an authentic rural story reflecting the quiet realities faced by many Australians — where pride and self-reliance can make it hard to ask for help, and where the emotional toll of dementia, Alzheimer’s and financial stress is often carried in silence.

Soon after my first year at acting school I landed the acting gig of a lifetime — playing bushranger John Dunn in The Legend of Ben Hall.
What started as an acting role quickly evolved into something much bigger. I was incredibly fortunate that the journey organically led to becoming an Executive Producer, working alongside some absolute legends including @justanotherbuleinbali@matt_holmes77@rossangelo@michaelfavelle and @greg_mclean_ .
This production remains one of the most unforgettable experiences of my career.
