BPS has bones!!!!! I’m so unbelievably grateful to be on this team, creating art and growing with such incredible humans. This past weekend at Midwest Mash-Up filled my heart. What a beautiful community we were welcomed into!!! All the poems we heard were remarkable and I’m so happy we were able to make new friends!!! We took 2nd on finals stage 🥈✨ and Bobby & I received the Pushing The Art Forward Award on our group piece 💕 I can’t wait for all the adventures still to come! 🦴

Poem Project: The Reckoning
Will Leonard (he/they) is a transmasculine writer, cat & horse dad, bartender, and mug collector based in Waltham, MA. Tru Kwene (she/her) is a spoken word poet from Boston, MA who has always been most proud of the opportunity she has to serve her community as an educator and mental health professional. Inspired to write together by a deep love and respect for one another’s artistry, these two poets created a feature set to not only celebrate the freedom and beauty of living in their truth but to also stand firmly in clear opposition to the system of injustice that harms and claims the lives of queer people all over the globe. Tru Kwene and Will are honored to present their set to you, entitled Poem Project: The Reckoning. With a combined experience level of nearly four decades, each poet brings extensive knowledge as well as a unique style in creating a set that centers survival, and all of the emotions that come with it.
