From bears in the shadow of Inkan ruins, to one of the rarest primates on earth, get caught up on our recent field visit to Peru.
During this trip, WCN’s Tommy Sheridan had an opportunity to connect with @spectacledbearconservation , our Partner doing groundbreaking work to protect this incredible species. He also connected with @yunkawasi —an organization working to protect one of the rarest primates on earth, the yellow-tailed woolly monkey. The journey left him both inspired, and hopeful for the future of both of these incredible species.

Lego Sea Otter build takes on the wild 🐚 🌊
@lego
Entry deadline extended!
The Sea Otter Naming Contest is now open until May 3!
How to Enter:
1. Snap a selfie with the Sea Otter LEGO Set in-store, OR film a build reel at home, OR use digital tools to bring your sea otter's name to life. However you choose to participate, we want to see your imagination at work — just make sure your entry creatively presents the set and your chosen sea otter name.
2. Post with #NameYourLegoOtter and tag @wildnetorg
2. Make a $21.36 donation to the Sea Otter Fund to complete your entry! The $21.36 donation is a nod to the LEGO set number — a small but meaningful contribution that goes entirely to sea otter conservation.
The Prize: We will select the three most creative sea otter names. Each winner receives their choice of either: a Sea Otter Expedition along the California coast in the Bay Area (travel and accommodations not included) OR a sea otter care package from WCN.
Winners will now be announced May 27th!

There is a fierce hope in our interconnectedness🌏
The magnitude of conservation work can often feel dire, isolating, and simply too big to digest. It would be, if we were each acting alone. But “dire” doesn’t mean “done.”
There is a fierce hope in our interconnectedness.
We have the tools, the heart, and the capacity to make real change; we have the numbers, the hands, and the shared minds of a global community. That is the beauty of a collective—we don’t have to carry the weight of the world by ourselves.
Today, we celebrate the wild—its beauty and its absolute necessity—and the conservationists galvanizing hope in all the many varied ways they are able. We are proud to exist together on this Earth 🌍✨

The 2026 Goldman Environmental Prize found the perfect recipient in Iroro Tanshi. 🏆
As the co-leader of @smaconafrica , Iroro has spent years proving that the most effective conservation happens from the ground up. She’s a brilliant strategist, a champion to the short-tailed roundleaf bat, a dedicated friend, and a massive inspiration to the entire WCN community.
This recognition isn’t just an honor; it’s fuel for the vital work she continues to lead. Congratulations, Iroro!

Celebrate Earth Month by hitting the trails on a bike that gives back! 🌎 🚲
From the start of the iconic Sea Otter Classic (April 16) through the end of Earth Month (April 30), Propain Bikes will donate $100 directly to the Sea Otter Fund for every Ekano 3 AL bike sold, supporting the conservation of one of the ocean's most beloved and ecologically vital species 🦦

Sea otters are a keystone species, and their health is tied to the entire coastal ecosystem. Whether you're already eyeing your next bike or looking for a reason to take the plunge, there's no better time to invest in a ride that puts real dollars toward protecting wildlife.

"The heartbeat of conservation is not found in the tools we use, but in the people who use them. When we strengthen our own organizations, we strengthen the future for the Grevy’s zebra."
— Peter Lalampaa, Executive Director, Grevy’s Zebra Trust
We often talk about protecting wildlife, but we don't always talk about the internal engines that make it possible. In late 2025, WCN joined Maliasili and 12 global nonprofits for a global gathering in Kenya focused on one goal: making local conservation organizations more resilient, efficient, and independent.

Cotton-Top Tamarins are a small monkey known for its unique hairstyle and high pitched vocalizations. Native to the forests of northern Colombia, these tiny monkeys are now critically endangered due to rapid deforestation and the illegal pet trade. That’s where @ProyectoTiti comes in - working on the ground and at the policy level to protect tamarins, preserve their forest homes, and raise awareness about the dangers of keeping them as pets. Because some species don’t just need admiration, they need protection. Learn more at norcalpublicmedia.org/wildlife (link in bio)
A big, heartwarming, hope-kindling update from our Partners @ewasolions ! 🦁✨
It’s rare and incredibly heartwarming to watch her sub-adult sons stepping up as protective big brothers, bonding with three tiny new cubs. In a region where lion prides have only recently started forming again, seeing this depth of pride connection is massive.
What’s waiting for you in the video: 🐾 Big Brother Energy: The older males showing amazing patience with the little ones. 🐾 Playtime: Non-stop tumbling between Ngarsis and her cubs. 🐾 Samburu Sounds: Pure, wild audio of the cubs calling out.
Every second of this is a reminder of why conservation matters🌍🌏🌎
