Telling stories in the mountains, it’s a challenge, but one full of rewards! A few years ago, we got the pleasure of capturing @mattsuessphoto in his element, shooting amazing landscapes in a gorgeous corner of our home state, Stanley Idaho. We hiked trails to mountain tops, rode mountain bikes with cameras and gear on our backs, and spent long days, early morning, and sleepless nights to convey the beauty around us. Shot on the @omsystem.cameras , we were able to move fast and light, to chase the views and places that were far reaching. The end result was an amazing glimpse into Matt’s story, and his art of capturing this world. It took lots of effort and hard work to pull off this shoot, but thanks to a solid team, we made it happen!

Kiritimati / Christmas Island from the Air. Having the opportunity to spend a week in this amazing place, thousands of miles from any mainland a month ago, was truly spectacular. Known for the world class fishing, the views and spaces also delighted. From the vintage wooden boats, to the friendly people, and great food, it was one for the books! Only one flight in and out of this place a week! Check out @flywatertravel to book your own fly fishing adventure!
Getting to capture content of new products for @pelican made it an extra fun adventure. Thanks for the invite @lifebythegraham , and for lending me your drone, when my remote did not make the packing list somehow… Gotta share more of the incredible moments from this trip soon! #islandlife #pelican #travelphoto #dronephotos

That's how long Mister graced my world with his bouncy little prance, his soulful dark eyes and his completely unmatched ability to win over every single person who crossed his path — including the ones who swore they weren't dog people.
Fifteen years ago today, this 8lb force of nature wandered into my life and as time progressed, we quickly became inseperable. To know me was to know Mister. Cross-country moves, break-ups, co-pilot in van life and captain of the paddleboard. Bush planes, beach walks, mountaintops and desert trails. 42+ states, yoga teacher training, our wedding aisle, post-op recovery — all of it. Side by side.
He hiked, he traveled, he begged shamelessly for salmon and he somehow always found the coziest spot in the room. He'd army crawl under the covers and park himself in the crook of your knees like he'd always been there. He carried his bone pillow everywhere. And if you knew him well, you know why ;)
He made strangers smile in airports and on trail heads and at border crossings. He was quietly, impossibly good at being exactly what you needed.
On what would have been his Gotcha Day, I just want to say — we were the lucky ones. What a gift it is to have been loved by a dog like that.
Happy 15 years, Mister. Save us the coziest spot.

Tell me, what's something you'll never forget about your soul dog?
When did you last lay beneath a truly dark sky and feel it — that feeling that washes over you... complete wonderment, a deepened perspective?
.
.
For most of human history, this was something we all had access to. We lived by the stars — they guided us, grounded us and kept us tethered to something far greater than ourselves.
Today, over 80% of the world lives beneath light-polluted skies. For many, a truly dark sky no longer exists. And it's not just us who are losing something — entire ecosystems depend on darkness to survive.
This week is International Dark Sky Week - an opportunity to raise awareness about light pollution and celebrate the dark skies above us — the ones that inspire awe, humility, and a deeper connection to something much bigger than ourselves.
I find myself thinking about all the nights I've gone out into the darkness and been filled with wonder, bearing witness to a world so much bigger than I. A sky so vast it defies your existing frame of reference and quietly changes you, if you let it.

There are shooting stars to see, surrounded by the pitch black of the desert. Full moons just waiting to shine, as you joyfully dance in their light.
Let this be a reminder that we still have a chance to protect the dark skies that remain.
When did YOU last lay beneath a dark sky and feel that sense of awe? Tell me below — and if it's been too long, let this be your sign.

It pains me to say it, but share it I must;
The light of our lives is now ashes and dust.
On October 8, we said our final goodbye to Mister.
Whether it was our evaporated tears or Arizona crying alongside us, Mister's home state set rain records, as the normally blue skies filled with clouds and the sky wailed for 5 days straight.
As heart wrenching as our final days together were, I am so grateful for all the love and intentional time shared.
What a reminder it was to never hold back an "I love you".
What a privilege it was to be able to give him (and ourselves) that time.
While Mister entered my life unexpectedly, he quickly became part of me. He saw me through 4 cross-country moves, my ex's deployment and he battled valley fever to stay by my side thru my divorce. He never failed to change my tears to laughter. He was the best companion and co-pilot when I set off solo in the van and he was right there the whole time we were both falling in love [with Micah].
My brother aptly said: "It’s really incredible how much you went through with him and how much you’ve transformed as a person in the last 15 years. Mister is a great symbol of that. I think this is God's way of saying, ok you’ve landed where you are supposed to be, as who you’re supposed to be and who you’re supposed to be with. Mister was a great support as you made your way there."
Mister truly taught me so much. For close to fifteen years, he was my one constant. Yet, I find myself scared of this next chapter. I worry I'll slowly forget...
To help assuage my fear, I've been writing notes + digging thru photos and videos to recall all we cherished about our little love. (See the comments)
Today would have been Mister's 15th birthday - because of all the places we lived & traveled, I know many of you met him. I would be so honored if you would celebrate his birthday with me by sharing memories of the dog whose gift was making even the least of dog ppl love him.

Mister, one day we'll meet up in the clouds but until then, thank you, thank you, thank you for loving us and sharing your light with this world. I'm so grateful for your lessons in how to love with patience, grace and a huge heart.
The Beaver Moon, as viewed from Arachova Greece. It takes coordination and planning to be in just the right place, at just the right time, with a long lens, and creativity, when shooting a full moon rise or set. This one worked out almost perfectly. We had access to the tower, which normally would be locked up, the light was right, up until the last moment, when the moon would have intersected the clock tower, the clouds rolled in and blocked the view. But that is how life goes, nature does not follow your plans, but you make the best of it. This was shot with the Sony A7Rlll, with the 200-600mm lens. Shot from about a quarter mile away. It was so special to get to experience something like this, when it was full of clouds the day before, and raining. Do you love chasing the moon? Thankful for my wife @outdoor.angventures that will chase these moments with me, and pose in the cold and wind! #fullmoon #beavermoon #travelphoto
The aurora is an incredible sight to behold, especially when it is able to be viewed in the “lower 48”. What once was only accessible to the further northern reaches, is now experienced across the globe. So exciting to see all the different places and ways people have been able to capture and share this geo storm. 11.11 has a new meaning. The clouds in Idaho made it a tough challenge, but all the more sweet once they began to clear. I am thankful to have a bit of a glimpse, before prepping for the next trip. This lapse was captured on two @sonyalpha cameras. The A7RV and the A7Rlll, at 10 second intervals, with 5 second exposures. Did uou get out and see the lights, and what was it like for you?
Now I am in Columbus Ohio for a @silverlinefilms project, and curious to see what the show provides tonight. Cheers to the wonders of the sky!

Miles and smiles, sore feet and happy hearts. It was quite the mix of emotions on a weeklong trip in the backcountry hunting elk. With new friends, including some 4 legged ones, that we were thankful to have, when the weight was heavy. Capturing an elk hunt is a fun challenge, but with the right preparation, gear, and mindset, you can accomplish a lot. Just a few snapshots from a solid trip with Chris @chris_flyfisher , Chad @skip2106 and Matt @stoke_your_passion , along with Sanford, Cliff, Peak, and Bosco! #elkhunt #backcountryhunt
Here’s to my best friend! My adventure buddy, and the love of my life. We celebrated 4 years of marriage this year, and it am so blessed to have her in my life. Even though I am not in the same state right now, it’s her birthday, and she is spending it in one of our favorite places, and where we got married, in the Sawtooths, and I am so glad she is able to spend it with @misterthemaltipoo and gazing at the gorgeous views of the mountains. I would not be the person I am today without her in my life. Send her some love on this special day! I don’t have the same eloquent way with words, but she is beautiful beyond words, and I am stoked for the many more years together! Love you babe! And Happy Birthday! @outdoor.angventures
Sometimes, projects I get to film are historic! The Louisiana Black Bear is a comeback story, returning from the brink of extinction, thanks to people like Maria Davidson, who worked for LDWF for decades on bear recovery projects, and now gets to see that work come to fruition working with @scifoundation and seeing the population back to sustainable numbers. A true representation of conservation in action. This project was incredible to be a part of, and the full film will be coming out here soon. Working alongside @kristytitus , mentoring the next generation of hunters and conservationists. We are excited to be supporting this great organization, and we are thankful for their trust in @silverlinefilms to produce these meaningful films.

Makes you want to howl at the moon. Swipe to see some behind the scenes video of this moment. Everything I need, my wife, our dog, a hike, a camera, and a cool outdoor experience. Hard to beat. It’s been a crazy schedule and busy lately, but so thankful for the opportunity to get out, hike and create some cool outdoor images. Arrived back in Idaho, just in time for time with @outdoor.angventures , and to take @misterthemaltipoo on this stroll. Every day with him is a gift, as we were not sure he was gonna survive this last health scare. But times like this are good for the soul. Shooting the full moon is always a logistics challenge, being in the right place, with the right angle, direction, and timing. Next time, we will try and capture the moon earlier before full, to get more ambient light before sunset, but I am stoked with how this turned out.
