We headed down the trail searching for this large, driftwood landmark that shared its glory with us years ago on a session. The time passed was suddenly so evident when we saw how overgrown the area had become since!
Truly one of the best things about the connections & clients I make along the way, is capturing them blooming through the seasons & chapters of life. I last saw Suly & Dan just before I moved from San Diego, for a maternity session for their now, oldest 🎀 Their crew has grown some since— & meeting their mini’s this time was surreal seeing how a short time has transformed their family in such beautiful ways 💛

Refining Fire Ranch is a special place any time of the year, but it absolutely explodes with life & colors once the cold fronts pass & the seasons open. You never know which trees, bushes, bulbs, or kiddos alike will be in full bloom there but I swear when they are, their blossoms last a little bit longer. Must be something in the dirt 💛🌳🍯

Shooting on the big rig from the ocean herself was a dream come true & felt like a long time calling & coming. It was pretty sweet to achieve this goal that little me would dream about.
The years of swimming, waterpolo (egg beatering subconsciously forever iykyk), lifeguarding etc & overall aquatic-feening tendencies have always had me feeling quite amphibious & drawn to any body of water all my life. Often falling into at inconvenient times (oops). Grateful for the way that experience & comfortability prepared me to try something I’d always wanted to. Never stop learning 🤙

Where do I even begin?
꩜ Imagine finding women who feel familiar.
Not because you know their story
but because your body softens around them.
༄ Women don’t find each other by accident.
This wasn’t random.
This felt older than us, like remembering.
༝ When women gather, something ancient wakes up.
When they gather in the waters
which holds codes & memory;
they’re held.
Community is the medicine.
Together we soften.
This wasn’t just a retreat,
it was a remembering
& an answer to a calling.
Women remembering themselves together.
I document what happens when women feel safe enough
to be raw
to be real

to be witnessed.

I had the stellar opportunity to not only document this retreat but to join hybrid as well. This vision began well over a year ago, my best friend & I traveled to Costa Rica to tour retreat facilities to chase down her dream. We journeyed thousands of jungle miles, trekked to the highest mountains, stopped by many surf town & ate an absurd amount of ceviche. The hunt for “the one” was one that Ashley did not cut corners to find.

Spent 7 days in a place I’d never been with 8 woman I didn’t know.
Magical how I came home with 8 new sisters and feeling more like myself than ever.

When I tell you this session flowed really effortlessly—
I mean it really fell together exactly as it was meant to be.
The first location we scouted was a hit.
The outfit decisions came easily (ladies we all know the crash outs 🫠)
The incoming tide showed us the only sliver of mercy we needed,
& the sunset lingered to close out a dreamy session of embodiment & reemergence.
I felt that both as a creator
& as a witness to Sofiah
as she embodies a new golden era, & trusted me to capture more than a photograph—
but an essence within it.
One that echoed in my recent reflections as well…
