As Apple celebrates its 50th anniversary today, we’re proud to introduce the new iCandle:
Apple has launched iCandle, a home fragrance product developed in collaboration with London-based candlemakers Wick & Tallow Bespoke.
Available exclusively through Apple Stores from today, 1st April, the project represents a rare move by the technology company into non-digital product design.
The iCandle has been created in partnership with @jonyappleive and @marcnewsonofficial , working under their creative collective LoveFrom.
The collaboration applies industrial design methodologies to a traditionally simple object, focusing on material performance, precision manufacturing and restrained detailing.
Produced by Wick & Tallow Bespoke, the wax and wick are formed simultaneously using proprietary 3D printing techniques to eliminate air pockets and optimise performance.
Deirdre O’Brien, Apple’s senior vice president of retail and people says: “We wanted to consider how a truly analogue product could engage our audience in the same multi-sensorial way that our technology products do.”
The scent, Fiesta, draws on the warmth of baked dessert apples (Fiesta - also known as the Red Pippin is a native Apple to the UK) and was selected by Apple’s CEO Tim Cook who took a personal interest in the project.
Available in 4 colours: Silver, Space Black, Champagne and Midnight Blue.
Available in two sizes: iCandle (single wick) and iCandle Max (three wick).
Launching today, 1st April in Apple Stores worldwide.
