Last week, WhyHunger staff presented at the Closing the Hunger Gap convening, where attendees built skills, engaged in deep learning and developed a shared analysis to create a more just food system. Surrounded by advocates and organizers, we dove into the "Be, Build, Block” framework, focusing on transformative strategies that move beyond charity models and towards community-driven solutions. Across the food system, far too many jobs are defined by low wages, unsafe working conditions and inadequate benefits. This means that the people who grow, pick, process, and serve our food cannot afford to nourish themselves and their families. We stand in solidarity with labor movements and workers around the world who are organizing and advocating for fair treatment, dignity, and economic justice. Everyone deserves to afford nutritious food and be treated with respect and fairness in the workplace. Follow our partners @foodchainworkers , @friendsatc , and @nfucanada to learn more and get involved. #MayDay #InternationalWorkersDay

International Day of Peasant Struggles is an opportunity to honor the power of peasants, small‑scale farmers and rural workers worldwide. These communities feed the world while resisting land grabbing, criminalization and systems that prioritize profit over people. Rooted in struggles for justice, peasant movements show us that agrarian reform and food sovereignty are essential to ending hunger and exploitation.
