This year, the Weidenfeld-Hoffmann Scholarships & Leadership Programme welcomes 29 scholars from 24 countries. Our scholars spent the Welcome Weekend, designed to introduce them to our Leadership Programme, at one of our partner colleges @worcestercollegeoxford
The Leadership Programme is the unique feature of the Weidenfeld-Hoffmann Scholarships. Through our flagship Moral Philosophy Seminars and Business Challenge Workshops, it prepares Scholars - intellectually, professionally and practically - to take on leadership positions in their chosen fields.
Stay tuned as we share the journeys of our scholars this year more closely than ever! The past week has been a wonderful start, and we’re excited to see what our scholars achieve this year and in the years to come!

This year was shaped as much by the people as by the place, by those who challenged, inspired and reminded us why we came here.
Farewell to the 2024-25 WHT cohort! A group whose conversations will carry across continents, and whose selfie game will always be unmatched 😉
From Jessup moot rounds to the actual ICJ!!
The 2021 version of me studying Public International Law and competing in Jessup would NEVER, even in his wildest dreams, have believed that one day he would be sitting before the full bench of Judges in the Great Hall of the International Court of Justice, attending the hearing of a real case!
My life has been irreversibly changed from this point on :’)
Sincerest gratitude to @whtrust for its generous travel grant, which made this dream come true!
WHT Scholars celebrated the International Mother Tongue day this week with scholars sharing the histories about languages, poetry that inspires patriotism, songs that describe heroism, the different stories of our countries and the many dynamics in between. We are grateful for the diversity within the cohort and their openness to share experiences close to their hearts and memories about their identities and loved ones.

Today we had a session with Sirin Phathanothai, who in 1956 was sent to live in China as an 8-year-old as a diplomatic offering meant to strengthen China-Thailand relations during the Cold War.
She shared recollections of her time growing up in China under the care of Premier Zhou Enlai, pulled into bilateral diplomatic relations without knowing their depth. She spoke on fond memories of growing up with the inner echelon of Chinese Leaders which then contrasted with memories of graphic suffering and pain she endured during the Cultural Revolution labelled as a daughter of a traitor and forced to fight for her life in a foreign country.
She would (after much hardship) escape to the United Kingdom and play a crucial role in establishing the first formal diplomatic relations between Thailand and China in the 1970s.
All WHT scholars come from very different paths of life, and forge similarly different ways forward, however all scholars share a common goal towards improving the world and creating opportunities that would help people flourish. In this video, Bryan Mier and @khishi.en shares their thoughts on structuring your applications to the Weidenfeld-Hoffmann Leadership and Scholarship program.
Our identities are a reflection of the communities that nurtured us and the experiences that shaped us. It is complex to unravel, but also our great strength if we can reflect on it and constructively share it with the world. In this video, @alevtynka_ and @rakibul______islam shares their thoughts on structuring your applications to the Weidenfeld-Hoffmann Leadership and Scholarship program.

Officially a graduate of the University of Oxford @oxford_uni
It’s been a truly transformative journey filled with enriching experiences and growth.
I’m endlessly grateful to God and thankful for the support of my incredible village: my family, friends, mentors (Dr Naima Nasir and Prof Atuire), thesis supervisors (Prof Mavuto and Prof Bob Taylor), IHTM cohort, @whtrust community and @kebleoxford
Oxford, thank you for a beautifully challenging and unforgettable experience.

Scholarly mode at COP30. Belèm, Brazil 🇧🇷📍
The far we’ve come reminds me how global climate action continues to mature slowly, sometimes painfully, but undeniably. Each year adds new lessons in accountability, ambition, and the power of collective voices.
Grateful for the institutions shaping me @oxford_uni and my @whtrust scholarship community, for giving me the lenses to understand this moment deeply. Proud to bring that perspective here at COP30 as we continue strengthening the work we’re building through @climatehubtz .
Here’s to progress rooted in purpose.
A sneak peak into our Business Challenge. The #WHTScholars learned how to validate their market and were challenged to speak to strangers and businesses in a way that reduces confirmation bias as they execute their business ideas.
It was a special experience for the scholars and we look forward to seeing how they reshape their ideas and impact the world 🌍
