A 3D render of an ancient Roman marble table displayed on a wall in an imagined modern interior.
A key piece to the most iconic moment of Roman upper-class domestic life, this table too once formed part of a dining room. It was removable and would have served as a tray to bring food to the diners. The rounded edges were surrounded by the couches upon which diners reclined to eat, the straight edge facing outwards.

A few screenshots of the VR exhibition we produced in collaboration with ArtAncient. It was the first immersive, photorealistic art world VR experience and aimed to show potential art world applications for the technology.
The Sutton Place Hercules was reproduced in 3D and shown together with its sculptural parallels, now scattered across the globe. Visitors could view the sculpture under UV light, with and without restorations and draw comparisons between the sculptures.
Throwback to the first lockdown, when we reinterpreted and refreshed the logos, catalogues and exhibition invitations of some of the galleries we met at TEFAF Maastricht.
Here’s a reimagined logo for @runjeet.singh , dealer in some incredible Eastern Arms and Armour, with a great Instagram feed to boot.
For the last few months we’ve been working on a virtual exhibition with @artancient . It was to be the first immersive photorealistic VR experience and aimed to show potential art world applications for the technology.
The Sutton Place Hercules, the main focus of the exhibition, was 3D modelled from thousands of reference photos, and was united with its sculptural parallels, now scattered across the globe, in an imagined historic room at the Park Avenue Armory in New York.

Invitation design for @modernitystockholm ’s new showroom in London.⠀
⠀
Although @tefaf closed early, a few stands and objects really stood out to us: we thought we’d create a series of designs inspired by what we saw at the fair. First up, Modernity’s stand, and in particular a mahogany cabinet covered in botanical illustrations. The gallery has also opened a pop-up showroom in London’s Cavendish Sq. Looks like a must-see from the photos — by appointment only! Hoping to visit once the lockdown is over.⠀ ⠀
We designed Timeline, ArtAncient’s exhibition @frieze Masters. Named one of the best stands at the fair by @artsy , sixty-five objects were placed along a 4.6 billion year timeline to illustrate the continuity of matter, materials and ideas. ⠀

“The Emperor Hadrian then himself bid welcome to Memnon and left on stone for generations to come. This inscription recounting all that he had seen and all that he had heard [...]“⠀
⠀
In the year 121 AD Hadrian commenced a tour of the Roman world: more than any other Emperor, he wanted to see the lands of the Empire for himself. ⠀
⠀
To commemorate this tour he issued a group of coinage referred to as the ‘travel series’. He also marvelled at monuments from other cultures including the Colossus of Memnon in Thebes, where a member of his party inscribed the short poem above. To navigate the journey, he may have used a topological map such as the Tabula Peutingeriana, the only extant example of a Roman road ‘map’. ⠀
⠀
This map formed the inspiration for ArtAncient’s stand @tefaf this year. Objects were placed along an imagined route from Britain to Mesopotamia along the Roman road network. Thanks to @1982_london for the carpentry and woodwork.

Skimmed columns. Shadow gaps. Polished floor. Small architectural details from ArtAncient’s most recent exhibition @tefaf . Columnar structures were placed equidistantly along the perimeter of the stand creating niches and an intimate space to enjoy each object without distraction.
