Our team is trying to find a little bit of joy with everything going on the voting world right now… Watch until the end for the most important message. 👀
Two weeks ago, the U.S. Supreme Court released the Louisiana v. Callais decision and paved the way for states to attack Black voters across the country. Within days, some states did exactly that — especially in the South. Swipe 👉🏾 to catch up on the chaos.
Looking at the maps already passed or in consideration right now, states could take away representation from Black voters in up to 10 congressional districts across the country before this November’s election. We don’t know what will happen next in each of these states, but here’s what we do know:
🚨 Chaos is the goal. If there’s enough confusion about our elections, they think we might just give up (Newsflash: We won’t).
🚨 Voter suppression is the goal. All of these changes are attempts to remove every tool we have to fight for our voting rights.
🚨 Discouragement is the goal. But every unfair map and every attempt to silence voters is another reminder of how much power we actually have.
Follow us for updates on the fight for our vote.
Statewide primary election season continues TODAY, May 12, with Nebraska and West Virginia! 🗳️🗣️

Happy heavenly 112th birthday to Viola “Mother” Fletcher.
As a child, Mother Fletcher witnessed the racially motivated attack on her thriving Black community in Tulsa, Oklahoma known as “Black Wall Street.” The 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre killed hundreds of people, left thousands without homes, and burned the entire community to the ground — but within a few years, they came together to rebuild.
More than a century later, not a single white person has been imprisoned or held accountable for their part in the massacre. Last year, Monroe Nichols, Tulsa’s first Black mayor, announced that the city would fund reparations by forming a private trust of $105 million by 2026, the 105th anniversary of the attack.
Today we honor Black history, Black resilience, and Mother Fletcher’s legacy. 💐🙏🏽

Happy heavenly 82nd birthday to voting rights champion Willie Velasquez Jr.
His work focused on registering and mobilizing Latino voters, starting in his home state of Texas. In 1974, he founded the Southwest Voter Registration Education Project (@SVREP ), a nonpartisan organization dedicated to engaging Latino voters to this day.
He is especially known for his rallying cry, “su voto es su voz,” meaning ”your vote is your voice.” 🗳️🗣️
