An unusual post for this account, but really wanted to shout out @originalmoxie and my stylist Kyanna for fixing and shaping up my hacked up short cut that I did last year.
It was my first ever visit in a hair salon and the vibes were immaculate. Kyanna did a great job making me feel at ease and walking through the techniques she used to make those curls ✨POP. A perfect first time salon experience. My mom also loved getting a consult here for her locs!
Original Moxie is locally owned, women and LGBTQ+ friendly, and has a line of excellent products all developed and produced here in Michigan. Love to see a high quality service—and product line—like this made right here in our neck of the mitten.

Tonight is a guaranteed sold out screening of Michigan-ish (get those tiks NOW!!). And tomorrow I hope to see some butts in seats at 7PM for a dope trip with the program I curated especially for YOU, Sounds From Our Memories.

Volunteering with the American Cancer Society has brought me in touch with some incredible people, like Dr. Analisa DiFeo at the Department of Pathology at Michigan Medicine. Not to be a dork, but science labs are extremely badass. Moreso, the stories and history behind the work performed at labs like this underscore the intrinsic societal value of science, medical research and the overall accessibility of both. This Thursday-Sunday, I’m happy to be featured in a special exhibit called “This Has Been a Test” hosted by @cultureverse2 and sponsored by @saganworksofficial during the #annarborartfair If you’re local and inclined to visit the fair in person, be sure to stop by Saganworks in the heart of downtown A2 to view the exhibit, and participate in activities at their gallery.
“This Has Been a Test” is a compilation of sights, sounds and emotions formed over the past year, and contextualized in the form of an assortment of typographic illustrations, video, motion, sound, and written word. As most things creative goes, this one is personal, and is submitted merely for your droll regard.
Many of us emerged from 2020 with plenty of takeaways from events that continue to—for lack of a better word—haunt us. I say we turn the cackling ghosts of the past into memories, and reflect on what about them triggers an emotion in us. That reflection will serve as a reminder of how human we are.
