A photo and poetry exhibition.
The other day I went back to the exhibition to re-paint. Two black girls and their friends passed the wall and went up to the pictures. Pointed at @marion.indigo afro and said wow it’s so beautiful. And then they told me they were so happy to see people who looked like them portrayed in this way. Even their friend who was non-black said she thought this should be up all year round. Hearing that from them really made me happy and proud about this project. Thank you once again to everyone who has been involved and anyone who has checked out the exhibition. 🌺🌹

Last summer I invited black and brown people in Gothenburg, Sweden to join me for a talk about our hair and experiences with discrimination. We spoke about how eurocentric beauty norms have affected us and our relationship with our hair. The talk was followed by a photo session as a way to celebrate our beauty and hair. The idea was based on my poem STRAIGHT. 👑✊🏾🌴💕

En dag för några år sedan så klickade det för mig. Att det jag kände och ogillade med min egen kropp, var tankar som jag fått från andra. Personer i min omgivning. Media. Resultatet som kom från avsaknaden av representation. Sen den dagen bestämde jag mig för att aktivt skala bort de tankar jag bar som jag inte höll med om. Yesterday was the international midwife day and I’d like to wish an extra congratulations to my aunty T who has dedicated most of her life to her craft as a midwife 💞
I had the opportunity to work with her at her birth center in Nigeria and it was incredibly inspirational to see her care for her clients. She built her birth center next to her home so her life truly is intertwined with her purpose.
One of the take aways that really sticks with me is the importance and power of faith, prayer, celebration and genuine love for what you do.
Will forever cherish working on a birth together and look forward to many more to come 🇳🇬🤰🏽

I saw this quote yesterday “you worry too much for someone who always figures it out” and it stuck with me – made me think about wanting to add more curiosity to the unknown.
Because truly no matter what has happened, the most intense hardships or out of the blue changes I’m always guided into something that turns out to be even better for me. So like I said after my massage. “You’re in for a treat” and sometimes we don’t get to pick the flavor but I do want to believe that it will be just what I need once it lands with me.

One of my favorite words in Swedish is Livsnjutare “enjoyer of life” 🤎
In between all of life’s responsibilities I make sure to say yes to the things that make life enjoyable for me, such as pleasure, adventures, travel, the beach, live music, nature, yummy food and great company. One thing I don’t want to live with is regret. I’ve seen many examples of how life can end abruptly and it has reminded me of how precious time is. So while I’m here I want to live and enjoy and do the things that bring me joy, not what society or anyone else think I should.
When I saw the stunning @l.j.aesthetics in the corner of this beautiful garden I knew I needed to treat myself to this magical treatment, thank you and @morganlynzi + @house_of_faun for the wholesome secret pop-up café 🫂💕

A month of me 💌
I was asked how I’m doing yesterday and I was suprised and happy with hearing myself say that I’m content and happy where I’m at in life rn. I’ve been winging it for many years and I realize that many of the things I’ve dreamt of are becoming a reality. Things did not happen the way I planned, but it’s all starting to make sense. So for that I’m beyond thankful, cause lord knows life has been lifing. Hope you’re well too, if not, trust the process you’re getting there 🫂
