Erika Chong Shuch’s 1,000 WAYS TO HOLD at the Anderson Collection at Stanford is amazing.
Over the past year Erika had 2 strangers gather and while making small ceramic bowls have a conversation with the prompt: what have you held and what has held you?
She and her team of collaborators then took these recordings, composed original music and embedded a chip on the bottom of each piece.
The vessel is then placed on a custom designed and specially engineered machine that plays the recording.
The levels of interaction, wonder and community are off the charts.
Now on view through August.
