Together with our austrian friends we will host a collabo live session at Café Wendel in Berlin on Sunday, May 3rd. As usual the sample will also be provided online and we will listen to the beats in the live stream 🎶
SAMPLE AS THAT is a community event in Linz, focused on the method and art form of sampling. It offers producers a curated piece of music/sound and two hours to create something new with it in a non-competitive format. The series happens at the Stadtwerkstatt Linz and was turned into a TV-Show through Dorf-TV. It’s driven by an idea of inclusion, so everyone is welcome to produce music together in a shared space – it's as simple as that!
@goukenbeats is a beat maker with a background in electronic music and DJing, as well as Sample As That regular and supporter. His sound combines sample-based loops, drums and analogue textures, produced using the SP404.
@thejestic (Eject Shit) is a Sample As That crew member and has been active as a DJ since the late 90s. He began producing his own tracks in the 2010s and increased his studio work since 2020 – moving between breakbeat, bass music and electro.
@therealslimedi is a producer whose sample-heavy sound combines old-school vibes with modern elements. He is an experienced participant and winner of sample challenges, and also co-organiser of Sample As That and in charge of it’s social media channels.
@1stbrn is a sound artist and media activist who, upon his return from Berlin, founded Sample As That as a ‘sister event’ to Sample Science and has been organising and running it since 2020.
