“The Activation of “The Dream Weaver Guardians of Grace” in Moungibi (Burketown) marked a momentous cultural milestone, heralding the towns first fashion-art activation.
This project activation celebrated Grace’s rich multicultural heritage, weaving in her familial bonds, with her uncle (
@balaluke ) and Nephew (
@lachlantern ) stepping forth as ‘Guardian’ models as well as longtime collaborator and friend the amazingly talented model and actress
@charleefraser . The presence of local young people of Moungibi, participating as models was pivotal to this occasion, which flourished because of the nurturing support of the Gangalidda and Garawa Native Title Aboriginal Corporation (GGNTAC PBC) and Carpentaria Land Council Aboriginal Corporation (CLCAC).
Set against the backdrop of Australia’s largest salt flats, the activation intertwined her art with the land, allowing Grace to pay homage to her ancestors and their lifetime journeys.
Heartfelt gratitude is extended to Brisbane Festival, EPSON, and the Gagalida Land Trust and Carpentaria Land Council for their invaluable support. This project is further enriched by the generosity of the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland and the Giving Program, gifted by Tim Fairfax AC & Gina Fairfax AC.”
