We’ve all heard that you write the movie three times: once in written form, once during production, and finally in editing. Pretty cool to see where things stayed the same, and where they changed for us along the way while making our short film.

Whether you’re a pro or just starting out, making a short film is a lot of work, with a lot of steps. Last year, we were right where you are—full of ideas but struggling to turn them into reality🎥 But now we’re bringing those ideas to life, and we want YOU to be part of the journey. Ready to take your filmmaking to the next level?👇 These are a few things that really helped us take the leap and start making the films we wanted to see a reality. 1. The number one thing we found that helped this, was each other. Having a partner in crime, someone to hold you accountable, is the reason we made our first short film (and our second… and a feature this fall ). 2. Just shoot something. Our first short film we did together wasn’t some grand plan that was constructed over the course of years. It was a month or two at best, but we were going INSANE and just needed to shoot something for ourselves. 3. SET THE DATE. Setting a date and sticking to that date no matter what was one of the key factors in making sure our film got completed. When working in combination with someone holding you accountable, a concrete date is a crazy good motivator to get things done. 4. Write within your means. When you’re writing your short film try and keep in mind locations you have access to and the budget you think you’ll be working with. Or you could always just write a sci-fi and figure it out….
