【A Night That United More Than 400 Hearts】
The Children Ball 2025 has successfully concluded on 24th October, bringing together over 400 guests for a night of hope, strength, and inspiration.
Co-hosted by Dr @adriancheng of @wempfoundation and Mr @rafaelnadal of the Rafa Nadal Foundation (@frnadal ), the evening featured a live auction as well as a pledge session aiming to raise funds for the "Mindful Support" program.
This collaboration marks a significant step in the cross-regional cooperation between the two foundations in fostering physical and mental health development of young people, as well as positioning Hong Kong as a leading centre for philanthropy.
"It is such an honour to co-host this evening with Rafa," shared Dr Adrian Cheng. "Our foundations share the same conviction that a child's wellbeing cannot be divided into parts. WEMP nurtures the mind and spirit, while the RNF empowers through the body and sport."

Mindful Support – Mental Wellness for Children
WEMP focuses on severe psychiatric cases for children through Mindful Support, we have already helped 247 at-risk children and their families with individual counselling, support, and financial allowances. The programme is currently supported by Dr. Dorothy Chan, Clinical Associate Professor (honorary) of Department of Paediatrics at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Currently, the services have been extended to the districts of Shatin, Tin Shui Wai, and Yuen Long.
Comprehensive 6-month Mindful Support services will be provided to support high level intervention for children coping with traumatic events. Aiming to preserve their mental health with psychological or psychiatric counselling; provide caring and safety facilitation to protect them; achieve physical needs for the children; and empower parents with life-skills for independence.
Your donation can help provide safe spaces and transformative experiences that nurture their mental well-being. Together, we can bring these young hearts by brining joy, laughter, and resilience through crisis intervention.

【Mindful Support: Empowering Families Facing Severe Mental Challenges】
To express care for families experiencing severe mental distress, Dr. Adrian Cheng, Founder of WEMP, visited one of the beneficiary families under “Mindful Support” Programme and sent warmth and care to the family. This hands-on approach not only highlights WEMP’s commitment but also fosters positive connection within our community.
The "Mindful Support" programme, an integrated mental well-being programme, perfectly embodies the notion of holistic support. Beyond financial assistance that helps this family upgrade from poor living conditions to better housing, the programme also offers a variety of interventions to the case such as childcare services at nurseries. This programme is designed to help families caring young children with significant psychological factors, through empowering the mothers for preserving the mental health of their children. Through mental psychological or psychiatric counselling together with crisis intervention, both the mother and child can alleviate their mental health issues, stepping confidently towards a brighter future!
WEMP will continue to partner with The Hong Kong Council of the Church of Christ in China to provide comprehensive assistant as well as curative interventions for children and their families in urgent need, and create a healthy and dynamic environment that everyone could strive.
【心晴支援：幫助面對重度精神挑戰的家庭重拾希望】
為了表達對經歷嚴重精神困擾家庭的關懷，愛望基金創辦人鄭志剛博士特意造訪了其中一個「心晴支援」計劃下的受助家庭，向他們送上溫暖和慰問。鄭博士親身落區參與的方式不僅突顯愛望基金的承諾，更促進社區內的正向聯繫。

【Empower Your Journey: Strive, Overcome, and Achieve Your Dreams! 】
At WEMP, we are committed to motivating and guiding young people towards their dreams, propelling towards a promising future. Through “DreamChasers Youth Positive Thinking Programme,” we ignite inspiration and empower young minds to pursue their dreams with resilience and determination. This initiative includes touring musicals and interactive workshops that emphasise learning from failures, committing to overcoming difficulties, and building self-esteem and resilience.
Our recent event featured special guests—musical actors Jarryd Tam, Cyrus Yeung, and dancer Dave Li—who shared their dream-chasing journeys. Jarryd faced immense pressure but persisted in pursuing his dreams with the support of friends. Through continuous learning, alongside his work at a television station, he
ultimately realised his aspirations on stage. Cyrus, who took on family esponsibilities after graduation due to economic challenges, transformed his flight attendant-experience for being an expressive and confident performer. Dave, who gave up auditioning in Korea due to family opposition, reignited his passion through dancing. His perseverance eventually won his family’s understanding and support.
These stories remind us to identify our goals, confront obstacles with courage, and embrace a positive mindset. They teach us even with initial opposition, those around us will eventually understand and support us when we remain steadfast and determined. Let’s bravely pursue our dreams, live in the present, and create extraordinary lives—one step at a time. Together, we can turn aspirations into reality!
【砥礪前行，跨越障礙，實現夢想！】
愛望基金透過「正向思維系列」，包括巡迴表演及工作坊，培養青少年正向思維，勇敢追夢。活動強調從失敗中學習，全力克服困難，從而提升自我價值與抗逆力。
活動特別邀請音樂劇演員譚永浩(Jarryd)、楊皓鈞(Cyrus)及舞者李潤東(Dave)分享其追夢故事。Jarryd曾因壓力致表現下滑，但在朋友的支持下堅持夢想，最終在電視台和工作的磨鍊和不斷學習下，實現舞台夢。Cyrus在家庭經濟壓力下，畢業之後先擔起家庭責任，後將空中服務員的經驗轉化為共情感及自信，成為更專業的表演者。Dave年少時則因家人反對及阻撓，放棄赴韓選秀，但通過舞蹈找到自我，終以毅力贏得一家人的修和及支持。
這些故事告訴我們，認清目標，勇敢面對挑戰，並擁抱正向思維，身邊的人終會理解並支持你的夢想。讓我們一起勇敢追夢，一步一腳印，創造屬於自己的精彩人生！

【Taking Youth One Step Further to Dream Realization】
WEMP is dedicated to empowering young people to gain self-awareness, recognize their limitations, embrace challenges, and cultivate a positive, optimistic mindset through the pursuit of their dreams.
With this vision, we launched the “DreamChasers Musical - Youth Positive Thinking School Tour”, a touring performance of a youth musical aimed at inspiring passion and interest in dream realization across 100 secondary schools. This program fosters sharing between students and young dream chasers, highlighting their journeys, including how they embrace failures and overcome challenges, all to better equip themselves in crafting their paths ahead.
Funded by the Home and Youth Affairs Bureau (HYAB) and the Youth Development Commission (YDC), with collaborative support from Clap@JC , we have received an overwhelming response from the school community since its launch in 2023.
Additionally, WEMP is organizing a series of tailored workshops to help students explore and realize their potential under the guidance of professional coaches.
After the Chinese New Year, our performing arts workshop brought together an enthusiastic group of students to learn professional vocal techniques, emotional interpretation, and performance skills. This engaging session harnessed the power of music to foster positive thinking and further develop their dreams.

【Mindful Support: An Integrated Mental Wellness Program for Children Aged 0-6 and Their Families with Severe Psychiatric Challenges】
In celebration of the Chinese New Year, The WEMP Foundation visited families benefiting from our “Mindful Support” program. We distributed care packages filled with essential groceries to help them celebrate this festive occasion.
During our visits, we listened to their stories, learned about their experiences after receiving our support, and explored ways to empower them for a brighter future. Inspired by Dr. Adrian Cheng, Founder of WEMP, our team is motivated by his vision and deep care for at-risk children and families. The gratitude expressed by these families truly touched us, reaffirming the significance of our work.
The WEMP Foundation is dedicated to high-level interventions through an integrated approach for children facing severe psychiatric challenges. In partnership with The Hong Kong Council of the Church of Christ in China, we provide personalized assistance aimed at building resilience and enabling growth.

🌟 Heartwarming Session at Sham Shui Po’s Community Living Room 🌟
We’re grateful to have hosted a wonderful session at the Community Living Room in Sham Shui Po, operated by The Lok Sin Tong Benevolent Society Kowloon (@loksintong ). During this event, WEMP Foundation shared positive educational resources with family members of the Community Living Room.
Dr. Charles Yu, an expert in Applied Psychology & Counselling, shared invaluable insights in positive parenting, emotional health, and effective communication.
In addition, Emo-Vitamin, a gamified emotion card, was introduced to encourage playful interaction and emotional expression between parents and children.
In celebration of the Mid-Autumn Festival, we are thankful for the opportunity to share mooncakes with all the family members in Community Living Room at Vista, embracing the warmth and compassion that surrounds us.

深水埗社區客廳舉辦暖心聚會
我們早前在深水埗由九龍樂善堂營運的社區客廳舉辦了一場別開生面的暖心聚會。當天，我們藉此平台向社區客廳的家人們分享了來自WEMP 愛望基金的正向教育資源，為居民提供了寶貴的育兒支援。
活動期間，資深應用心理學及輔導學專家余德淳博士深入探討了正向教育、情緒健康及有效親子溝通的主題，幫助家長們從多角度了解如何應對日常育兒挑戰。
此外，活動還介紹了一款名為「情緒維他命」（Emo-Vitamin）的情緒遊戲卡，透過輕鬆有趣的方式，鼓勵家長與孩子之間的情感互動與表達。
適逢中秋節，我們更準備了月餅，並為各客廳之家人送上節日祝福。現場氣氛溫馨融洽，充分展現了社區中的關懷與聯繫。

【WEMP and Hong Kong Adventist Hospital Foundation – Stubbs Road Launch "SEN CONNECT" programme for Underserved Children】
WEMP has partnered with Hong Kong Adventist Hospital Foundation – Stubbs Road (HKAHF-SR) (@hkahfstubbs ) to launch the "SEN CONNECT" programme. This initiative aims to provide diagnostic assessments and treatment for 1,000 children from low-income families suspected of having Special Educational Needs (SEN). The first phase of the programme will focus on offering comprehensive assessments and tailored treatments to children aged 3 to 14, helping them seize critical early intervention opportunities for a healthier and more inclusive development.
Officiating at the programme’s launch event, Mr Chris Sun, Secretary for Labour and Welfare, expressed strong government support for this initiative, highlighting its importance in providing timely and appropriate care for vulnerable children.
Dr Adrian Cheng, founder of WEMP, highlighted the programme's role in easing the anxiety of families awaiting public services, giving them a healthier and inclusive growth environment.
Andy Cen, CFO of Hong Kong Adventist Hospital, announced HKAHF-SR has committed HK$20 million to subsidise medical expenses, focusing on early identification and intervention to support these children.
The WEMP Foundation believes every child is special and the better the society knows about the spectrum of mental abilities of children, the more helpful it is for it to build an inclusive environment for children to grow up happy and healthy.
【愛望基金與港安醫院慈善基金推出「SEN CONNECT」基層SEN學童支援計劃】
愛望基金與港安醫院慈善基金（司徒拔道）攜手推出「SEN CONNECT」計劃，為1,000名來自低收入家庭、疑有特殊教育需要的兒童提供診斷評估及治療資助。計劃的首階段將重點為年齡介乎3至14歲的學童提供全面的評估和度身訂造的治療方案，幫助他們在黃金時期抓住早期介入的機會，促進更健康和共融的成長。
勞工及福利局局長孫玉菡先生親臨主禮計劃啟動儀式，並表示政府全力支持是項計劃，強調其對於為弱勢兒童提供及時和適切治療的重要性。
愛望基金創辦人鄭志剛博士指出，該計劃有助減輕家庭在輪候公營服務期間的焦慮，為他們打造一個更健康、共融的成長環境。
港安醫院首席財務總監岑良先生表示港安醫院慈善基金將撥款港幣2,000萬元，資助合資格兒童的醫療開支，確保他們得到及時及度身訂造的支援。
愛望基金相信，每名兒童都是與別不同的，社會對心智多樣化頻譜的認知越多，將會更加有助建構共融的環境讓兒童健康快樂成長。

【WEMP and CityUHK Collaborate for Nurturing Positive Education Ambassador】
The Positive Education and Mental Health Promotion Ambassador Programme, co-organised by The WEMP Foundation and City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK @cityuhongkong ) Positive Education Laboratory, has officially commenced. This initiative, fully funded by WEMP, spans from 2024 to 2026 and offers an accredited opportunity for 800 like-minded teachers and social workers, enabling them to shine brightly in their meaningful roles by nurturing children and youth’s positive thinking and mental health. As of 31st Aug, all the quotas for the first cohort have been filled by teachers and social workers across Hong Kong primary and secondary schools.
A Launch Ceremony cum Symposium was organised earlier at CityUHK. Dr. Ko Wing-man, Member of the Executive Council of the HKSAR, depicted the multi-pronged approach among government, business and community to promote student’s positive growth. Mr. Lester Huang, CityUHK Council Chairman, praised the collaboration’s potential to foster a positive culture in schools and communities. Mrs. Jennifer Yu Cheng, Director of WEMP, echoed that children’s mental well-being is crucial for sustainable social development. And WEMP shares the responsibility to unlock their potential and create a positive society.
We believe that more cohorts will be formed in the future, joining forces with various sectors in society to steer the path of promoting children and youths well-being in HK.
【愛望基金與香港城市大學攜手培育正向教育推動家計劃】
🌟 愛望基金與香港城市大學攜手推出的「正向教育及精神健康推動家計劃」正式啟動！此計劃由愛望基金全力資助，將於2024年至2026年間提供免費證書課程，旨在培訓800位志同道合的教師和社工，使他們在現有崗位上更高效發光發亮，促進兒童和青少年培的心理健康。第一階段報名反應熱烈，截至8月31所有名額已滿，獲得全港中小學教師和社工的廣泛支持。
✨ 計劃的啟動禮暨研討會早前於城市大學舉行，眾多嘉賓蒞臨支持，並分享對計劃的美好願景。在活動中，香港特區行政會議成員高永文醫生介紹了教育局的校園幸福感提升措施，呼籲政、商、民三方合作，共同支持學生的正向成長。城大校董會主席黃嘉純先生對此次合作表示肯定，強調在學校和社區中培養正向文化的潛力。愛望基金董事鄭余雅穎女士指出，兒童的心理健康對社會的可持續發展至關重要，愛望基金將肩負發掘他們潛力的使命，攜手打造積極正面的理想社會。
