It’s been many moons between missions into the Akatawara Ranges, but today was the day. The goal was to get from the Karapoti Gorge up, across to and down a trail called ‘Smoko Time’, via ‘Project’ trail. Mission accomplished. Thanks to riding buddies/guides @squidfacedboy , @lincoln.mackay and @peg_75 … Bewdy!
Back on the tools for the first 2026 @brooklyn_trail_builders maintenance session today. We made a good start on Carparts Extension dealing to the growth closing in on the trail. What an amazing city of recovery, restoration and hope. A 3 hour guided bike tour of Hiroshima with local guide Shin from @sokoiko_hiroshima .
His grandmother was pregnant with his mum when the A-bomb detonated 80 years ago, on 15 August 1945. It was humbling to hear the stories of his family and the people of Hiroshima in the following hours, days, weeks and years.
