It’s been 23 years since @jnc414 lived in Welly, so it’s been great to show him some of the new stuff. But when the wind doesn’t blow (and let’s be honest, it’s a rare day), Red Rocks/Pariwhero is an old school treat.
We got out to the coast and decided that back over Mount Vic was probably the thing to do. Fortunately, we were right. I do like it when a plan comes together.
And yes, he is that tall 🤣

Barely contained chaos. Uncontained fun. Cheers @necessaryevil56 and fam. I didn’t realise how scary back pedal bikes are until they are both too small, and you realise that the floor you want to brake with is at a bottom of the stroke. I’m coordinating with UCI accountants to work out if I can use depreciation to upgrade the brakes for next year.

The upside of taking a well off is time for some proper adventures. And I was lucky enough to have @peg_75 guide us through a couple of new (to me) trails in the Akatarawas - Project and Smoko Time. Good chums are essential, so it was great to have @wellyrob and @lincoln.mackay along for quality chat and comedy falls.
Both are completely epic, involve a lot of sweat and enduro bike carrying, and are through some of the most stunning bush 40 minutes drive from home.
It’s been too long Akatarawas, but won’t be as long Belle my next drink. And remember - we’re not lost, we’re just not where we intended to be yet…

A bit moody at 4am this morning putting out the timing gear for the @wellymtb Mākara Peak South (of the) Park Enduro. Still plenty of grip, but it sounded like that disappeared after first 20 racers.
Implicit “heh” should be assumed. Most everyone had smiles on their faces at the rend of the day. And the weather? Basically a nice summer afternoon by 1pm
Massive chur to @skinnyassbubblez for the loan of the Repeater (and coming out to marshal).e-bikes are a game changer for event organisers who don’t like asking anyone for help (especially if following through with a pun meant the most inaccessible parts of the park)

A completely excellent weekend down in #queenstown last week for a wee spot of riding and catching up with @gaz_automatic and his @aucklandcycleworks Marra creation.
The weather didn’t exactly play ball, and the rebound circuit on my forks reminded me about service intervals, but summer was happening at @bikeglendhu and the views were still worth the effort. I didn’t realise that the bike festival was on before I booked, but it was great to see some of the craziness, and to be part of the mcgazza memorial ride train.
A massive thanks to @ashlikesbikes , @wellyranger and little miss dynamo for being amazing hosts, guides, and generally excellent chitchat.

I thought that I had a window in the weather, but it was just weather. You can't rely on the weather in Wellington, but you can totally rely on the trails.
Final ride for 2025, let's see what adventures 2026 throws at us.
