It’s all my fault! I pitched and licensed “Lay It On the Line” by @triumphtheband to Rogers for their NHL Playoffs commercial. @publiciscanada brought this to @wearegraysonmusic looking for additional songs and Lay It On the Line was actually the last song I put on our list and here we are.
As a music supervisor, sometimes you license a song to a commercial and that’s that, while other times it becomes something bigger than itself. Especially when the @mapleleafs coach starts using the song title in reference to plays made on the ice, or when @friedgehnic and @sportsnetkyle call out the song on their podcast, and when countless hockey fans start making memes about the song and how much the ad is being played. What have I done?! 😂

New music supervision work!
This @subwaycanada spot is one of the best commercials I’ve worked on in years. I licensed the bass heavy, mid-60s Italian song “Il Geghegè” by Rita Pavone. All kinds of different music from all over the world was considered. We created multiple covers of Iggy Pop’s “The Passenger” in various different languages and a personal favourite from the pitch stage was “Prisencolinensinainciusol” by Adriano Celentano, a song with lyrics written in 100% pure gibberish (look it up if you haven’t heard it)

💔 Yesterday we had to say goodbye to Silver, the most loving, quirky and friendly dog we’ve ever met. She wasn’t dealt great life cards but she definitely knew how to use them. She walked through life with her heart fully open and left no one behind. She never let it show that her kidneys were assholes and showed us the importance of living every moment to the fullest. We will miss her biting our toes, giving us kisses and ringing the bell to run in the hallway.
Thank you to everyone who loved her, and to the @bloorcourtvets team who did everything they could for her - Silver loved going to the vet.

RØISEN IS BACK and playing a free show this Sunday night at @thebabygtoronto alongside the barbaric @thunderglove and the inimitable Dragon Pound featuring good pals @brandonslimbs & @davebertrandstompbox@roisenmusic is a band I started to explore 70s/80s soundtrack music, psychedelia, prog rock and library music. It’s also the first musical project I’ve been a part of where I’ve written and produced all of the music (thus far). You haven’t seen us or heard from us in awhile because we’ve been busy putting the finishing touches on our DEBUT RECORD due out in the near future!
