A sparse and quietly expressive work, where the figure emerges through only a handful of confident marks and gestures.

The centrepiece of Ben Wakeling’s exhibition, Holding Form, is this large-scale mixed media painting, Electric Avenue.
The photo doesn’t quite capture the colour, texture and energy of the work, so we’ve included a short video to show the detail.
There’s only one week left to see Holding Form, so do come and visit.
On display in Holding Form, a beautiful collection of mixed media drawings by Ben Wakeling.
We absolutely love this piece, Held.
On view at Well Hung Gallery until 9 May
We’re delighted to announce our upcoming exhibition, Patternicity.
Patternicity brings together the work of Katy Binks, Mark McClure and Matt Dosa, three artists rooted in abstraction, each negotiating the relationship between control and disruption.
Taking its name from the tendency to identify structure and meaning within visual noise, the exhibition presents work in which pattern is formed, tested and unsettled through processes of making. Working across painting, print and sculpture, the artists construct and disrupt systems as they explore a shared territory between order and instability. Surfaces are layered, systems are reworked and material process remains visible throughout.
A shared engagement with large-scale mural-making runs throughout the exhibition. To mark the show, the artists will be creating a site-specific collaborative work for the gallery window, extending the exhibition outward into the city.
We’d love to see you there.

Acrylic, oil bar and charcoal on raw Linen
120cm x 120cm
We love the looseness in this piece, where forms drift in and out view through layered, instinctive mark making.
On view on now in Holding Form, until 9 May
Blue Jazz Notes by @_benwakeling_
Acrylic, oil bar and charcoal on canvas
120 × 180 cm
We absolutely love the way this painting holds a tension between the seated figure and the loose, instinctive mark-making that moves across the surface.
On view now at Well Hung Gallery Until 9 May
One of our favourite smaller works by @_benwakeling_ on view in Holding Form.
Ben rarely works at this scale, but has produced a few pieces especially for the exhibition that still hold the same freedom and expression that he known for in his large scale paintings.
‘A moment in witness’
