It’s #WorkHereWednesday, and today we’re headed to the classrooms of @smshawks to catch up with Social Studies teacher, Andrew Semadeni.
Currently, Andrew’s 8th graders are diving deep into the turning points of the American Civil War. From the tactical maneuvers on the battlefield to the powerful, enduring words of the Gettysburg Address, his students are uncovering how these historic moments shaped the nation we live in today.
"This is my 3rd year at Severance Middle. I love teaching Social Studies and World Sports this year," Andrew shares. "Working and living in Weld has been a great choice for me and my family. We have a tight-knit culture here that includes a very fun music league to help team bonding!"
Whether he is exploring the origins of our republic or examining the cultural impact of athletics in his World Sports curriculum, Andrew’s classroom is a space where academic curiosity thrives. By fostering a rigorous yet supportive environment, he ensures his 8th graders are not just finishing the year, but are truly prepared and excited for the challenges of high school.
We love seeing our educators build such a strong community, and such a bright future for our students, both inside and outside the classroom!

Our friends from Mountain View Elementary were back at @wizardprincipal this week to put the final touches on their garden projects! It was another fantastic day of collaboration, creativity, and a little bit of dirt under the fingernails.
Here is how the second half of our Jr. Wizard Day project unfolded: - A Splash of Color: The workshop transformed into an art studio as students painted their handcrafted planter boxes. Our WHS mentors were on hand to help bring those creative visions to life. - Companion Planting 101: It’s all about teamwork, even in the soil. Students planted tomato plants paired with marigolds. Our high schoolers taught the younger crew how marigolds act as "nature’s bodyguard" by helping to keep pesky bugs away. - A Special Mark: To make these boxes truly one-of-a-kind, the WHS Welding Department stepped up! Our talented welders created custom metal stamps featuring the Mountain View logo, branding each box with a permanent mark of school pride.
A huge thank you to the @weldre4education Jr. Wizard Day was proudly funded through their Student Firestarter Grant. We are so grateful for their investment in our students' hands-on learning.
We also want to extend a massive thank you to Melinda Spaur, Jessica Teal, Cammie Smith, and Kevin Snyder, the dedicated teachers who organized and led these sessions.
Watching the pride on the elementary students' faces, and the leadership shown by our high school students, reminds us why these multigenerational moments matter so much. We can’t wait to see these tomatoes grow!

Rolling into safety! We took to the streets with Mountain View Elementary students to highlight the collaboration between Weld RE-4 Schools and the Town of Windsor through the Windsor Safe Routes to School Program.
Through a mix of classroom lessons and hands-on riding, students are mastering essential bicycle safety and skills. For many of our students, this program is where they learn to ride a bike for the very first time!
A huge shoutout to our wonderful instructors for their dedication to our kids: Karen, Gary, James, Cindy, Debbie, and Amy.
What our students are learning: - The Basics: How to start using the "Power Position" and the ABCs of bike safety (Air, Brakes, Chain). - Safety First: Always wearing a helmet and learning how to properly fit and wear one. - Road Awareness: How to safely stop/start at intersections and stay aware of vehicles, pedestrians, and other cyclists on trails and streets. - Group Riding: Building the skills and awareness needed to ride safely with friends.
We are also thrilled to showcase our new adaptive bike, which ensures every student can participate! This bike, along with the program itself, was made possible thanks to a generous grant from the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT).
Thank you to Greg Jacobsen, Denise Kennedy, our School Resource Officers Anna Smith and Dillon Walker, and our amazing parent volunteers, Danny and Rebecca Morrison, for making this happen for our Mountain View and Tozer Primary students!
