🔍 Friday Afternoon Puzzle
We’ve come across this interesting marking on site at Weldon Lodge.
Is it a historic Ordnance Survey benchmark, or could it be a mason’s mark left by the original craftsman? 🪨
We’d love to hear your thoughts - have you seen anything like this before?
Let us know in the comments ⬇️
Both of our barns now have roofs! 🙌
When we bought Weldon Lodge, both barns were on the verge of collapse - so it’s fantastic to see them fully restored. 🏠

This is a great milestone for the project and a real transformation from where we started.
We're excited to show you what's coming next! 🤩
You might be seeing a bit more of our faces on here over the next few months, because we've just been appointed as the interior design studio for @koriconstruction 's new purpose-built headquarters, and we've decided to vlog the whole journey!
We’ll be working alongside @bindlossdawes Architects to help shape a workspace that reflects Kori and its team.
Projects like this are always collaborative, and the best part is that we’ll be sharing a genuine behind-the-scenes look at how it all comes together: the good, the bad and everything in between. 🎥
This is going to be a fun one…

Back in September, we shared the story of when the external wall at Weldon Lodge unexpectedly collapsed.
Fast forward to today, and we’re pleased to share this fantastic before and after. The wall has been fully restored, complete with brand new windows, bringing the building back to life.
Some great progress being made by our team at Weldon Lodge. 👏

Last week we had a visit from our Architects @bindlossdawes and they brought us a present - a 3D version of our new office! 😍
Swipe to the end to see how it looks next to the Lodge and barns!
🌱🌿🌲
At Weldon Lodge, we’re taking a proactive approach to ecology and are committed to protecting and enhancing local biodiversity.
Our team has carefully planned tree planting for the scheme, ensuring the right species are introduced at the right time to support and strengthen local habitats.
Rather than waiting until next year, we’ve prioritised planting now in the current season to give these new trees the best possible chance to establish and thrive.

Re-roofing the attached barn 🏠
When we purchased Weldon Lodge, the attached barn to the West of the site had completed collapsed.
We've now re-built it, managing to salvage and re-use the king post truss!

New year, new windows ✨
We’re nearly complete with window installations at Weldon Lodge, and it’s been all about respecting and restoring the building’s character.
✔️ Original Crittall windows carefully refurbished and reglazed
✔️ Two stone surrounds restored, with two more replaced using hand-carved sandstone
✔️ New heritage steel Crittall windows set within the stone surrounds, as the original building
✔️ Bespoke hardwood cottage-style casement windows finished in a beautiful grey-green
A blend of restoration and craftsmanship that keeps the heritage of Weldon Lodge firmly intact.
Doors next!

Planning Submitted!
We’re excited to share that the planning application has been submitted for our new office building at Weldon Lodge.
Our new, efficient, and flexible workspace will sit behind Weldon Lodge and provide a modern home for #TeamKori. It’s design takes inspiration from traditional agricultural barns, and features open horizontal timber panels that wrap around the façade.

Rebuilding of the northern barn! 🧱
When we purchased Weldon Lodge, the northern barn was crumbling and falling down. We carefully dismantled it, keeping as much of the original material as possible.
Now, our team of excellent bricklayers have been sifting through the bags of cropped stone to find the perfect bricks to restore this gorgeous barn.
Larger stones, known as quoins, are used at the corners of the building to frame the structure. These typically measure around 9 inches, and are then paired with smaller stones, either 3x3 inches or a mix of 6-inch and 3-inch pieces, to complete the brickwork pattern.
