“James was our wedding celebrant and DJ. James has a relaxed, laid-back approach, that made us feel very comfortable, but he is the ultimate professional at the job. From meeting up, to the questionaries he sent us, we felt at ease going into the day. James was so much fun on the day.
His ‘intro’ of us before the vows was a highlight. We had guests come up to us during the day, asking how we knew James, thinking we had been friends for years, when we had only met him 8 months prior. This speaks to the effort he put in getting to know us, but also his natural ability to seamlessly pull everything together.
James was funny and witty, and knew the right times to be serious / heartfelt. He helped direct us, but also knew the right times to go with the flow.
In terms of music, we sent him a lot, but also love his taste in music, so gave him creative control. It was exactly as we had hoped for. We have already recommended him as a celebrant and a DJ to multiple people - some of whom were even asking on the day!”

I recently saw a bride in a wedding group looking for a combined celebrant, DJ and MC for their wedding day.
Her first reply was a DJ telling her “These are VERY different skillsets. I’d highly recommend booking these separately.”
It’s a reasonable point. We like specialists. We like knowing that whoever we get to do a job, they’re doing what they do best. But with weddings, there’s something much more important going on.
My enquiries often mention how convenient it would be to have a celebrant who can also DJ & MC their wedding, but those same couples never mention convenience in their reviews.
Because weddings are not about convenience. They are about making memories. Wedding ceremonies are the culmination of thousands of relationship memories, woven into a story that lets two people take a step back from the daily and the ordinary and truly view the love they share for everything it means.
I learned this slowly across 6 years as a celebrant, but it wasn’t until our own wedding last year that I was able to fully appreciate and understand it.
As for wedding receptions? Yes, they’re a party, but they’re so much more. The conversations reminisce on memories past, reflect on the present, and anticipate new memories for the future.
And when it’s time to dance, we take the memories of the music we have in common and create new memories as we dance and sing to it together. Young and old people and music come together in a soundtrack that reflects who we are, what we love, and why most moments are forgotten but the best ones become memories.
Your wedding day will fly by and become a memory very quickly, an awesome experience that slips through your fingers no matter how hard you try to hold onto every moment.
You will be sad it’s over and that you won’t get to do it again. And this will drive you both to keep making memories with every day you have left.
So whoever tells your story or plays your music, make sure they’re a specialist in understanding that weddings are about the memories they create, and are created from.

FIFTY-TWO ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ reviews so far - and nothing less. Here's one of them:
"Only giving five stars because ten is not an option. Words cannot describe how elated we were with the ceremony he delivered on our wedding day. It was somehow incredibly funny, sentimental and moving all at the same time. So many guests went out of their way to tell us how impressed they were with James. Highly professional and so pleasant to deal with - thank you again!"

“James was incredible from start to finish! We originally hired him for a DJ package, but after a last-minute cancellation by our original celebrant, he was able to step in as celebrant and MC and we are so happy that he did.
From start to finish, we felt guided and supported and reassured by his attention to detail. He made the ceremony so special and kept the dance floor going all night! We are still getting comments from our guests about how great he was!
James, we can’t thank you enough for your professionalism and everything you did. You truly made our wedding the best night of our lives. Thank you so much!!”

Marrying Sasha & Jordan this weekend, they asked for a lot of Drake and a lot of Gorgon City and I got distracted into this pretty quick

I recently met with a couple I’m DJing for soon, and they told me about a wedding they went to a few months ago.
The couple getting married wanted something different to the usual ‘wedding music’, and had made this clear to their DJ when they’d met.
They were huge Gang of Youths fans, and wanted a mix of that vibe with some older and newer dance bangers - like PNAU, Disclosure, Fred Again, DJ Seinfeld, Daft Punk, that kinda thing.
But when it came time to kick off the dancefloor, their DJ just started playing all the typical stuff they’d asked him not to - Baby Got Back, the Nutbush, ABBA, etc (there’s nothing wrong with having this at your wedding of course - but it’s not for everyone!)
The guests weren’t into it, the newlyweds really weren’t into it, and the dancefloor was fading fast.
A few guests went up to the DJ, and asked him to play some Gang of Youths for the newlyweds, and he told them “no, I don’t take requests.”
I can understand a DJ thinking they know better than any one guest - it’s kinda their job. But it’s also their job to read the room!
There’s a long list of popular songs that work really well at most weddings. But there’s nothing more important than listening to what a couple wants for their wedding, and knowing when it’s time to play something different.
The purpose of taking (some) requests isn’t to make the requester happy, it’s to make the wedding better - and it’s a wedding DJ’s job to know a good request from a bad one, and to admit when a guest had a good idea for what to play next.

“James was an incredible find! I immediately loved the idea of having our celebrant, MC and DJ all as one person purely for ease of organising a wedding! However it was even better than I expected because it meant that everything from the ceremony (aisle songs, vows etc) through to the reception (speeches, music etc) flowed so smoothly because James was in control of all of it. James was very organised in the lead up to the wedding and we loved taking the time to answer his survey questions. It made for a fun afternoon connecting and reminiscing with my partner and then hearing the information used during the ceremony was beautiful. Since our wedding, everyone that we have seen and spoken to has made a comment on how “incredible” and “great” James was. We are so happy we chose James to marry us and absolutely recommend him for your wedding too :)”

“We couldn’t have asked for a better celebrant than James for our wedding! From our very first meeting, James made us feel at ease with his warm, professional, and personable approach.
He took the time to get to know us as a couple, listening to our story and tailoring the ceremony to reflect our personalities and values perfectly.
On the day of the wedding, James’ delivery was flawless. His calming presence helped to set the tone for the entire ceremony, making it heartfelt, meaningful, and full of genuine emotion. Our guests couldn’t stop commenting on how beautiful and personal the ceremony was. James’ attention to detail and thoughtful words made it an unforgettable experience for us all.
James is also incredibly organized – he kept everything running smoothly, from the paperwork to coordinating with the venue and making sure everything was in order. He guided us through the process with ease, making it stress-free and enjoyable. We truly felt like we were in great hands every step of the way.
If you’re looking for a celebrant who is professional, engaging, and truly cares about making your ceremony special, look no further than James Beecroft. We are so grateful for everything he did to make our wedding day perfect, and we would recommend him to anyone without hesitation!”
