Iβm officially the π³π± National Champion Derny Masters 40+! Full gassss from the start at the Velodrome Amsterdam!π¨ Together with my pacer Edwin Smeulders, we rode an intense 120-lap final at an average speed of 64+ km/h.
After a blazing start, my competitors could only follow for the first 20 laps. After that, the pace was just too high, and we steadily built our lead. Teamwork and trust with your pacer really make all the difference. πͺ
Hearing the national anthem play is always special, and this feels like the cherry on top after 2 years of training with Edwin. π
Want to see more high speed action? This Tuesday 10th of February at 20.45 hrs at @sportpaleis_alkmaar the π³π± KNWU National Championship stayer racing! Come and cheer me to the podium, free entrance ππΌ

WOW WOW WOW, WHAT AN EVENT!!!!!
Unbelievable thanks to @teamknwu , @samligtlee , @lars2201 and @lucas_eenkhoorn too for making this possible and giving me the opportunity to ride such an massive event. I have learnt so much these last 3 days and will definitely never forget this event and the learning process involved with it.
Had a blast racing against different guys from different nationalities and had a lot of fun especially with @jonny.harju (we met in like 5 heatsπ€£). The pacing was completely different from what I normally ride and just took a lot of confidence trough the races. Deffenitly had the biggest fun with the keirins, which were rowdy and rough, but nothing above boundaries. Just constantly on edge with speeds I never averaged before!!
Also, two new PBβs this weekeind:
11.200 at the 200m
01.09,057 at the Kilo

Tomorrow is already the last day. Finishing it off with the tempo race & points race.π
Huge thanks for the videos to the best photographer I know @webrow ππ»

Moments before the start of the Dutch Nationals Individual Pursuit final. From visualising every lap to full execution. This is why I love the IP: a pure one-to-one battle with no margins for error. Proud of how I rode both the qualifying (4:16.3 β π³π± Championship Record) and the final, where @elmar_abma and I going all the way to the line. Just 0.9 seconds in it β and luckily in my favour β to secure my 5th consecutive national title π π³π±

Some photos from this years nationals!!
Picked up some good results, unfortunately no podiums but I am certainly happy with the growth I had after just 3 months of training for sprint. Massive thanks to @fysiotherapie_hagenaars and especially @thomas_hooyberghs for making me stronger than I could ever imagine in this short time period!
I am leaving 2025 super happy and fulfilled but definitely looking forward to the next step: Next Gen in 2 weeks!!!
Absolutely stoked for @thijs_.w for taking the jersey in sprint Γ‘nd Kilo!

And with thatβ¦ the 2025 season comes to an end π
I never expected to finish the year at the Dutch National Track Championships, but what an experience! In October I slowly started building up again after the accident and did my fourth ever track training. That was the moment I felt I could go for some speed again, and I was so happy about that.
After consulting with experts and coaches, I decided to focus on track cycling leading up to the national championships. Races in Berlin, BΓΌttgen, Alkmaar and Apeldoorn followed.
It was all about learning: gathering lots of information, trying new things, and also good exercises for my brain when it came to processing information and anticipating. And of course, it gave me a new perspective and fresh motivation.
Thanks to everyone who gave tips or helped along the way: mechanics, coaches, fellow riders, parents, and friends who came to support. Without you, I would never have been able to learn this new discipline.
I lined up for several disciplines at the nationals to learn, try things out, and discover which discipline suits me best. Now itβs time to analyze. Even though I already see many points to improve, it was such a great experience as a newcomer to be on the starting line with these experienced riders. Racing at the nationals again in a different discipline after this period was something special.
For now, itβs time for a pause before preparing for the next training camps in preparation for the road season.
Bis dahin! ππ»
