They represent a voice which should be an integral part of public debate and policy analysis. Yet this voice is currently almost entirely absent from the public sphere and from the rooms where laws concerning their lives are made.

By an ordinance of the Minister of the Interior and Administration, a new Badge for the Protection of the Border of the Republic of Poland has been established. For whom? For Border Guard officers, employees, and other individuals and institutions supporting border protection.
So who exactly? For the direct and indirect perpetrators of 14,754 brutal pushbacks (only in 2025!) from Poland to Belarus.

A year has passed since the right to apply for international protection at the Polish–Belarusian border was suspended. This suspension, which is in contradiction with both international agreements and domestic legislation, was intended to be temporary and limited to a specific area. In practice, however, it has remained in force continuously for a full year and now applies de facto across the entire country. How has this legal change affected the situation at the border?
As noted by Marcin Sośniak of the @hfhrpl : it not only fails to resolve the crisis or mitigate its effects, but in fact deepens it, both in humanitarian terms and through the undermining of the law and systemic violations of the rule of law.

The accounts of the 17 people that have crossed the border included in this report, are their own individual, lived experience records of the reality of the borderlands. They represent a voice which should be an integral part of public debate and policy analysis. Yet this voice is currently almost entirely absent from the public sphere and from the rooms where laws concerning their lives are made.
The testimonies describe events that took place both before and after the suspension was introduced. They are arranged chronologically, yet when reading them it is difficult to conclude that the state’s treatment of people at the border has changed in any meaningful way following the suspension of the right to apply for international protection.
This study also includes a numerical summary, produced with the cooperation of organisations and collectives engaged in solidarity work along the border region. In addition, a legal analysis of the suspension of the right to protection, authored by Marcin Sośniak @hfhrpl together with a timeline of events situating developments within a broader context, serves as a complement to the voices from the border.

Nigdy nie poznamy przebiegu większości z 14 754 pushbacków, które - według danych Straży Granicznej - zostały przeprowadzone w 2025 roku. Relacje 18 osób w drodze, zawarte w naszym najnowszym raporcie, stanowią indywidualny, subiektywny zapis rzeczywistości pogranicza. To głos, który powinien być nieodłączną częścią debat i analiz, zwłaszcza że na tym obszarze nieprzerwanie obowiązuje strefa ograniczonego dostępu, ograniczająca obecność mediów i organizacji społeczeństwa obywatelskiego. Tymczasem próżno szukać go w przestrzeni publicznej czy w gabinetach ustawodawców.
