Hey, I’m Megan Smit — photographer, website designer, acrobat, and mindfulness devotee.
I’ve been shooting portraits + building soulful brand stories since 2012, with a big love for working with small businesses and holistic healers.
This Fall, I will be teaching Intro to Photography as an Adjunct Professor at GVSU (an amazing full circle moment and twist of fate ✨).
This summer, I was completely humbled after I injured my knee and needed an ACL reconstruction. This meant that I did not walk, drive, or work for 3 months! I am grateful to say that I am on the upswing and excited for the next chapter!
I have a few spots open for fall family + senior sessions this season.

Camp Sacred City 2026
Here I witnessed a community remembering what becomes possible when people gather with open hearts, clear minds, and a willingness to share their gifts freely.
Music rising through the trees. Bare feet on the earth. Laughter echoing across the land. Children, elders, animals, artists, seekers, musicians, healers—each bringing their own medicine to the circle.
This is what it looks like to be…
Sacred. Silly. Safe. Sober. Sovereign.

Texture at Boyd Hill

Whenever I feel lost, I love to take a long walk and just look at the world. I step into the movement meditation with little to no expectation - just a camera and a pen at the ready. You never know when inspiration will strike and it’s important to be ready to catch it if it does make an appearance.
I enter the walk quietly at first, calmly looking and listening. Soon I start to get curious and maybe I touch a leaf or smell a flower. If I get lost in my thoughts, I shift my attention to my breath or my steps.
On this day at Boyd Hill I found myself looking at texture again and again. Nature is so perfectly imperfect and alluring, I am reminded I am the same.
Life in Florida has been so different from my Michigan ways - especially the wildlife. The wonder I feel when looking at this new ecosystem reminds me of how big this world actually is.
Michigan, I will be home soon. But let it be known that Florida will always have a piece of my heart and roots are beginning to form.
