✨'When Lauren had the chance to process her feelings, I had time to process mine.' ~ Lauren's mum When Lauren was dealing with the grief of her grandma passing, just 6 months later her grandad, too, passed away. Surf Therapy helped bring back her confidence and happiness. ‘[It made her] a lot calmer, a lot more able to process what’s happened. And happier.' says mum Tracey. Lauren continues: 'It’s a really nice, safe space for anyone that needs a bit of help.’ The positive effects of our Surf Therapy programmes have the power to ripple out far beyond the initial waves of impact we see in our young people. Providing Lauren with a safe and supportive environment in turn gave her family space to process grief themselves. 'When Lauren had the chance to process her feelings, I had time to process mine.’ Following her Surf Therapy programme, Lauren progressed to Surf Club sessions at her local Project Hub in North Devon, and she now aspires to be a Surf Mentor herself, keen to help others in the same way The Wave Project helped her. Support more young people like Lauren and help us to Power Beyond the Surf. 👉 Link in bio! #PowerBeyondTheSurf #SurfTherapy #TheWaveProject

We’re sorry. We’re sorry that so many young people are still facing barriers to mental health support. We’re sorry that confidence, connection and joy can feel out of reach for those who need it most. We’re sorry that blue spaces, and the calm and connection they can bring, aren’t accessible to every young person. But we’re not sorry for believing it can be different. Through Surf Therapy, young people find confidence, connection and a sense of belonging, both in and out of the water. This is why we’re asking you to help us Power Beyond The Surf 👉 link in bio! #PowerBeyondTheSurf #SurfTherapy #TheWaveProject #MentalHealthMatters #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek

TWF? It's Saturday and #SurfTherapy time.. @waveprojectnorthdevon Cute waves with 1 in 10 a bruiser. Lining up for dry hair, when I turned shore-ward and was 'a victim' of a mugging! Lots of lucky seaweed, Poisidon, macarena-ing and some ace #PartyWaves: most of all huge smiles. 😄 Left the waves with icy toes and fingers, and a warm heart #Volunteering.

🌊 Power Beyond The Surf 🌊 Across the UK, we support over 2,600 young people each year through Surf Therapy, an early intervention that builds confidence, connection and emotional resilience. But demand continues to grow. Right now, 1 in 5 young people are experiencing a mental health challenge and many are still waiting for support. This spring, we’re aiming to raise funds that could impact far beyond the shoreline, into families, schools and communities. 💙 “The Wave Project restores Rosey to who she was born to be – not defined by what she can’t do.” - Chris, Rosey's father After a serious accident and 18 months in hospital, Rosey’s family feared she might never return to the sea. But through The Wave Project's Adaptive Surfing programmes, specialist equipment and a dedicated team around her, Rosey is once again in the water; laughing, free and completely herself. For her family, those moments mean everything. A chance to step back, to breathe and to see their daughter not defined by challenges, but by her joy. This is the Power Beyond The Surf. Support more young people like Rosey and the ripple effect that follows 👉 link in bio! #PowerBeyondTheSurf #AdaptiveSurfing #SurfTherapy #TheWaveProject

Over half a million young people are waiting for mental health support. 1 in 5 are experiencing a mental health challenge. And for some, support comes too late. But it doesn’t have to be this way. Our brand-new research shows that early intervention through Surf Therapy works in helping young people build confidence, connection and resilience when they need it most. This spring we are aiming to raise £100,000 to power 120 young people beyond the surf. Nine months after sustaining a life-changing spinal cord injury, @cam.treble returned to the surf last week 🌊 With unwavering determination and supported by the awesome @waveprojectuk team that made the unpredictable environment feel safe, he caught his first green waves since the injury. A true testament to personal resilience, the healing power of the sea, and the community that holds us up when we need it most. An honour to share this milestone. Here’s to the next session 🤙

The North Devon Adaptive team have been back in the water for their pre-season Adaptive Surfing Refresher Training. With the welcome return of blue skies and sunshine, the group of 12 volunteers and instructors braved the big waves to hone their tandem surfing skills at our Adaptive Hub in Croyde. Although the water was still a little cold, the session left everyone feeling warm and energised, with big smiles all round! Adaptive Surfing at The Wave Project - made possible by our dedicated and experienced volunteers and supported by specially trained surf coaches - ensures the sea remains accessible to all, delivering exciting sessions that can be both authentic and empowering. Check out one of our 5 Adaptive Surf Hubs around the UK, whether you're a seasoned surfer, a newbie to the sport, or keen to join us as a volunteer.
